We built our new home to look old. One of the things we did to make our home unique was to add the wood architectural pieces over some of our doorways. I have found them randomly throughout the years. I am looking for a few more for different upcoming projects and found a TON of them inspired by the pieces we have. what i mean when i say i want our new build to feel like it’s been there for 100 years🤍 the older i get the more i appreciate the character and architecture of old homes. My goal is to make our new home feel like it’s been there forever and here’s how I plan to do that👇🏽✨ comment HOME & I’ll send you all of my links🤍 1. I’m choosing white windows over black🫣 my builder was shocked lol but I’m leaning into the traditional feel over the trendy black and white. 2. I want to incorporate overgrouted stone on the interior to make it feel like it’s been there all along. (adding wall treatments is the best way to elevate a space) 3. reclaimed wood beams and accent warm/dark wood tones to pull in the natural elements 4. adding character to the walls & ceilings through shiplap, tongue and groove, traditional millwork and beadboard. It’s amazing just how much these details can transform a space! 5. I would loveee to source antique doors for our office or pantry. there’s something special about a piece that already has a story to tell🫶🏽 6. I want to mix old collected pieces with new so each space feels unique and homey 7. lastly, established landscaping can truly transform the exterior of a home. A fall tour through a Tudor inspired home filled with dark woods, leaded glass windows, dramatic archways and all the character that makes this style feel so timeless. 🍂 For fall, I leaned into deeper greens, rust, warm browns and aged brass, with vintage rugs, patterned textiles, antique inspired furniture and softer seasonal touches throughout. Each room has its own look instead of repeating the same decor, but the darker woodwork and warm color palette tie the whole house together. I also love mixing the older Tudor details with a few more updated choices, especially in the bathroom with the glass shower, marble, brass fixtures and clawfoot tub. It keeps the character without making the home feel stuck in another era.
