You can’t erase black history, queer history, trans history, Jewish history, woman’s history, or anything else that dosent suit your ideals.
ONE Archives Foundation, the oldest active LGBTQ+ organization in the United States, is proud to welcome you to a new era of our beloved organization. We have rebranded and changed our name to One Institute. Many of you are already familiar with this name. In 1956, our predecessors, ONE, Inc., established One Institute as the organization’s educational arm. Today, we proudly embrace “One Institute” as our nonprofit’s name, along with the tagline “Queer and Trans History in Action.” Our new logo, tagline, website URL, and social media handles all reflect One Institute’s ongoing commitment to envisioning a world motivated by social movements of the past to take action toward queer and trans liberation. Celebrate our historic past while looking toward our exciting future. Follow us on social media @oneinstitutela and click the link in our bio to explore our newly refreshed website: oneinstitute.org
As an elder in the trans community, I feel a special responsibility to raise my voice—for myself, but especially for trans youth. Trans history is being erased, our ability to participate in public life grows increasingly narrow, and last night the republics removed gender affirming care from Medicaid. You would think it is impossible to make it to 30, too, if this was happening to you. #trans #transyouth #transwoman #transgender #lgbtq #medicaid #fyp #transally #transparents

This #transhistoryweek, we honor the resilience, wisdom, and joy of trans communities - past and present. As part of our Queer Joy campaign, we spoke to LGBTQ+ elders who paved the way, including trans and non-binary individuals who shared powerful advice for the next generation. At akt, we support trans and non-binary young people who are often forced to hide who they are - or face homelessness for simply living as their true selves. But when we connect generations, we find hope. We find power. We find joy. Trans history is still being written — by elders who dared to live openly, by young people rebuilding after rejection, and by all those fighting for a better, safer future. This week, we honor that legacy — and recommit to making sure every trans young person has the chance to write their own joyful story. 💬 What advice would you share with your younger self? Let’s celebrate trans history, and build a better future together. #transhistoryweek #transrightsarehumanrights🏳️‍⚧️ #lgbtq #safehousing

“Hope is a discipline” (Mariame Kaba), and there are many practices that you can use to cultivate it. One of mine is studying trans history, and connecting to how my transcestors and elders’ actions have supported me and bolstered me through challenging times. We are all connected, and everything we do echoes out through that web of connection. If the actions of trans people who lived through their own challenging times strengthen you, then your actions can and will support future trans folks. How are you maintaining hope? What practices support you?
