In a forest in Northen Sulawesi, Indonesia there are some spectacular trees. Ever since I've been trying to get positive Identifications on the species. But I have been getting conflicting information. (Comes with the territory in this territory). They are different kinds from Ficus (Moraceae) family. Possibly Ficus Benjamina, Ficus Variagata, and Ficus Virens, Ficus Altisima Ficus- fig trees are diverse and have all kinds of growth ways. Typically forest figs produce enormous quantities of fruit when they're on the forest schedule. Each species having a select fruiting season so they can best attract all the fruit eaters to specific locations all at once. Its a common event in the forest to come across a fig that is literally raining fruit! The constant fruit falls day and night for a week to many weeks. Its a hopeful opportunity to get in some wonderful animal sightings. The fruit bats and flying fox flying from all around in the evening. Birds in the branches and grounds dwelling birds on the ground. The myriad of primates, rodents, pigs and all the surprises come. And of course this attracts the predators.
