#Tritone
any tune that has a cycle of dominants like this is a great place to get your tritone language together (rhythm changes, stompin at the savoy, scrapple from the apple, sweet georgia brown, etc)
some of the masters of the tritone 2-5 include bird, miles, trane, kenny dorham, george coleman, mccoy tyner, and countless others

Hi. I think I do short form content now 😂 #musictheory #tritone
MUST-KNOW triad pair arpeggio lick for jazz piano Part II: Descending. You should really be able to recognize this sound, especially cause I recently showed you a different version, so what is it?
Well, it’s the sound of two major triads a tritone apart. You can use this pair to create some really interesting sounds, as heard in this reel.
Happy Holidays!!!

![Tension through the tritone holds the foundation of music together.
What is the foundation of music?
The Circle of Fifths.
1. This circle is a disc that is around you.
2. This disc gives you perception on where you can go.
3. You go from being blind, to being able to see.
If we take a scale, like C major: C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C...
That scale, like any other scale, has a tritone in the middle of it from F-G.
1. The ^4 of C (F) is a Perfect Fifth below C.
2. The ^5 of C (G) is a Perfect Fifth above C.
3. The tritone (Fⵌ) lies between F and G.
Without Fⵌ, C major could not exist. This is because C major combines the top half of F, and the bottom half of G in it.
C major: [(C-D-E-F)-(G-A-B-C)]
F major: [F-G-A-Bb-(C-D-E-F)]
G major: [(G-A-B-C)-D-E-Fⵌ-G]
top half of F → [(C-D-E-F)-(G-A-B-C)] ← bottom half of G
Between F and G lies the tritone, Fⵌ.
Fⵌ is also the leading tone of G. This is why V sounds like it is going somewhere, because it literally has the tension of Fⵌ right before it.
Tritone:
1. There are only six tritones.
2. Each tritone spans six 1/2 steps.
3. There are only 3 dim7 chords.
There are only 3 diminished seventh chords because each diminished seventh chord is composed of three minor thirds. [m3-m3-m3]
These three minor thirds have two interlocking tritones. For example:
Cdim7th: [C-Eb-Gb-A]
C-Gb = tritone
Eb-A = tritone
Cⵌdim7th: [Cⵌ-E-G-Aⵌ]
Cⵌ-G = tritone
E-Aⵌ = tritone
Ddim7th: [D-F-Ab-B]
D-Ab = tritone
F-Ab = tritone
The Circle of Fifths has tritones that connect across the circle. This tension generated from the tritones is what holds The Circle of Fifths together.
Without tension and release, music would be impossible.
