Don’t leave yourself empty handed. Some groups play you must always have an extra card. This is a table rule. Thanks for the great question Daryl! **Something to note-when the wild card is picked it does give the player enough points to hold back two fives and still open. However, since it is getting to the end of the round the goal would be to try to get a canasta closed. That is when she would have liked to use all her cards but it just can’t happen.
