2 years ago today we found out we were going to be mom & dad to our son. Now we are waiting on the arrival of our baby girl, I’m no longer working as a scientist, and our son is 15 months old. If I could sit down with every mom who’s pregnant with her second baby, this is what I’d tell her 🤍 1. You think you’re worried about the newborn but the harder adjustment might be watching your first baby stop being your only baby. 2. Nobody talks enough about the guilt. You’ll feel like you’re not giving enough to either child some days. That’s normal. 3. Your toddler may act out more. They’re not being “bad.” Their whole world just changed. 4. The second baby won’t feel as scary because you’ve done this before. You’ll trust yourself more than you realize. 5. Laundry will pile up. Dishes will sit in the sink. Some days, keeping everyone fed and loved is enough. 6. Accept help before you’re desperate for it. Let people bring meals, hold the baby, entertain the toddler, or fold the laundry. 7. You may miss your old routine. You may even miss the simplicity of life with one child. That doesn’t mean you made a mistake. 8. Your relationship with your partner might feel strained at times. You’re both exhausted. Give each other grace. 9. You can’t pour equally into both children every day. Some days your baby gets extra cuddles. Some days your toddler gets extra attention. It balances out. 10. Watching your children love each other will heal parts of your heart you didn’t know existed. 11. One day you’ll realize you stopped wondering how you’ll manage two... because you’re already doing it.
