A senior UN humanitarian official has cautioned that any closure of the Strait of Hormuz would severely disrupt aid operations across the region, warning of cascading effects on essential supplies. In a statement cited by Reuters, Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, emphasized the strategic importance of the waterway. “When ships stop moving through that Strait, the consequences travel fast. Food, medicine, fertiliser and other supplies become harder to move and more expensive to deliver,” he said. #StraitOfHormuz #UN #HumanitarianAid #TomFletcher #GlobalTrade FoodSecurity RegionalStability Shipping Reuters

“This kind of on-off humanitarian aid situation [in #Gaza] is not acceptable under international humanitarian law. And it’s also unacceptable in terms of humanity, because people need to be able to recover”, UNRWA Jonathan Fowler tells @cnnturk Humanitarian aid should never be politicised. Restrictions on aid must be lifted to reach people in dire need.
