Do UX Designers Always Need User Research? The answer isn't simply yes or no.
UX Research helps us understand users, validate assumptions, and make better design decisions instead of simply copying what we see on Dribbble.
But that doesn't mean every project needs weeks of interviews and usability tests.
The amount of UX Research you need depends on:
→ Your goal
→ Your timeline
→ Your budget
→ What you already know
→ How risky the decision is
Sometimes you need interviews.
Sometimes a quick usability test is enough.
Sometimes reviewing existing data can answer your question.
The important part isn't doing research for the sake of research.
It's getting the right information to make better decisions.

The hardest part of learning UX wasn’t Figma.
It was unlearning what I thought UX actually was.
Here are a few things nobody told me when I started my UX journey. 🚀

The most “techy” career for psychology students doesn’t require a single line of code ■■
UX Research is basically psychology applied to apps and websites — figuring out why people get
confused, what frustrates them, and what actually makes them stay.
Big companies pay well for this because user behavior directly affects their revenue.
Comment UX and I’ll DM you the complete roadmap — courses, tools and how to land your first

Any UX research method that you come across is nothing but a process of finding answers to questions.
The best and fastest way to start the research process is through secondary desk research.

@isaartahir is back with tips on how to create a character set using variants in Figma. Turning character features into variants allows you to easily swap components in and out of your designs. Use your characters to illustrate user personas or to brand your personal website and resume.✨Link in bio for the community file.

UX design isn't one job, it's six wearing a trenchcoat. Researcher, taxonomist, consultant, designer, technologist, negotiator, each with its own instincts and outputs. This animation breaks the disguise apart, wireframe by wireframe, to show what's actually happening under the coat.
Now add a layer: today's AI progress is quietly upgrading every one of those six roles. Faster synthesis for the researcher, smarter pattern-spotting for the taxonomist, sharper framing for the consultant, rapid iteration for the designer, deeper technical fluency for the technologist, and clearer alignment for the negotiator. The craft doesn't disappear, it gets amplified. Knowing how to use these capabilities well is quickly becoming its own skill inside the skill.
The best designers aren't being replaced by AI, they're the ones learning to wear the coat better.
Which of the six roles do you lean into most? Drop it below.
