Longarming this king size comforter quilt is no problem with my @Handi Quilter | Longarm Quilts Infinity Longarm on the 14’ Gallery2 table. The pantograph I’m using is from Urban Elementz it’s called Fusion. I’m using my Glide No. 40 color Marlin for my top thread. In the bobbin is a DecoBob color gray. Here is my version of the INFAMOUS Butterick 4790 Walkaway dress, but QUILTED! I was inspired to try this pattern after seeing a few reels of it pop up on IG. This reproduction pattern has tons of mixed reviews, with many leaning toward it being a complete mess. My first mock up was a disaster. It fit all wrong, baggy and rode up like crazy. Did more research. Second mock up was much better but still needed some tweaks. After a 3rd mock up it was time for the real thing. Luckily, @mulqueensewing was having a huge sidewalk sale and I was able to get fabric at a great price, because this project used a lot of fabric!! I used Warm & Natural cotton batting for this project. I quilted each panel using my Handi Quilter Simply 16 with Prostitcher Lite and chose the e2e digital design “Aurora Feather” from Urban Elementz. I hand washed & dried each panel before cutting out the pieces, because shrinking was a real concern. Things I altered: used a size 8 for the front bodice/bust part and size 14 for everything else, made the front neck a bit lower, raised the “swoop” of the sides up and added back darts so it would sit along my natural waist better, and raised the back seam about a 1/2”. My advice for this pattern: Make a mockup, or 3! You will probably need to try it a few times to get the fit right. I should have used longer stitches in my first mockups to make breaking them down again faster. I spent a lot of time seam ripping. Also recommend tracing the pattern onto tracing paper so you always have the original to go back to if needed. Sometimes the quiting doesn't have to be super intricate on "on theme" with the quilt top, sometimes you just want to add a nice all-over texture.
