Day One today. ( tomorrow we treat vetrans ) I did so many extractions on children who had been in pain for far too long—simply because they couldn’t find a dentist to treat them. It was heartbreaking to see how difficult it is for individuals with special needs to access care. This is a major issue, and so many are still struggling to find help. Being part of Give Special Kids a Smile with SACDS and Healing California allowed us to make a difference, but there is so much more work to be done. Seeing their relief and smiles after treatment was truly priceless. Many veterans who served our country are suffering in silence, enduring unbearable dental pain because they have little to no access to care. This Veterans Day, we gave back by providing much-needed treatment—but it was heartbreaking. One veteran told me he had been in pain for two years because he couldn’t get the care he needed. I had to extract so many teeth that could have been saved with early intervention. No one who served our country should have to suffer like this. It’s time to do better.
