This is the second video from our visits to other local, women owned shops. We hope to give you a peek into other shops and some of what they have to offer and to remind you how important it is to shop local this season. This is Linda de Valpine owner of @greentailtable in Nonantum. She’s talking about our sustainable ORI bags.

Join us for a talk on "Genetics and the Future of India’s Biodiversity" by Uma Ramakrishnan, Professor at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), moderated by L. Mahadevan, Professor of Physics, de Valpine Professor of Applied Mathematics, Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, Harvard University.
📆 Friday, September 20, 2024
⏰ 12:00 pm – 01:30 pm EST
📍 Cambridge – CGIS South, Room S250, 1730 Cambridge Street
Please RSVP (see link in bio)!
About the talk:
The Indian subcontinent hosts high biodiversity including charismatic species like elephants and tigers, despite being the most populous nation in the world. Over the past twenty years, scholars have used genetic information to understand the origins of species, and how they have been impacted by anthropogenic effects, with an aim to safeguard their future. In this talk, geneticist Uma Ramakrishnan will give some examples of work on biogeography, molecular ecology and conservation genetics in the context of the changing Indian subcontinent, and discuss possible futures for biodiversity in India.
