as most of you know, 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓, @mildmanneredtimid first scripted short film released on sunday on @vimeo! The last few years have been incredible learning process diving into the world of filmmaking being a composer, but truly - I will 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 be a musician first. So let’s talk about the music. I’ve scored many short films, but this one was special; it was our collective child, so the pressure was on. But I can’t tell you how right and easy this one felt. I understood every character because I had the script since 2020. I knew every emotion because I was so privileged to be on set watching @thedeeptigupta @sanjaychandani @rishipuff and Armaan completely own their roles. Scoring music isn’t about fitting the most music you possibly can into a film, it’s about creating the amount of music that compliments every person, scene and the words once on paper to honor the story. I knew that my score would be simplistic, emotional, and organic in its choice of instrumentation. single and multiple layers of guitar, sarangi, hand drums, a few textures and a lot of space. most of the time, I just took my guitar and played freely while I watched the film over and over again. The rest was built off of that. Here is one of my favorite scenes. @thedeeptigupta performance even without music was flawless, but my goal was to make the audience feel the exasperated disappointment in her eyes. Watch this beautiful work of art today on @vimeo! link is right there in my bio :) #vimeo #shortfilm #filmcomposer #musiccomposer

‘It’s also important to let each other go at a certain point’ - talking about a mother and daughter relationship. It’s been a week since Ma Mere et Moi had her @vimeostaffpicks - and more then 100k views 🥰. So happy to share our short film, made with a Wildcard from @nederlandsfilmfonds where we had the freedom to make any film we want. The chemistry between @hannah_van_lunteren & @celesteholsheimer was very important to me, and it’s something we worked on a lot.
