Planning a Colorado trip? Here’s an epic 5‑day loop to see some of the best mountain towns without crazy driving days. 🏔️🚗 I’m Cheryl, and I’ve spent 30+ days exploring Colorado. Here’s the route from this reel: Day 1 – Georgetown Ride the fun (and affordable) Georgetown Loop Railroad between historic mining towns, then drive up Mount Blue Sky, the highest peak in Colorado you can drive to. Keep an eye out for mountain goats. 🐐 Day 2 – Vail & Breckenridge Wander the very “Disney-looking” streets of Vail and stroll the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens. Then ride the free gondola in Breckenridge and go find Thomas Dambo’s wooden troll, Isak Heartstone. Day 3 – Leadville Head to Leadville, the highest town in Colorado. Go ziplining through forests and over rivers, and if you have time, visit one of the local mining museums or take a mine tour. Day 4 – Aspen & Maroon Bells Drive the incredible Independence Pass into Aspen, walk through the peaceful John Denver Sanctuary, and at dusk, visit Maroon Bells for one of the best views in the state. 🌅 Day 5 – Glenwood Springs Finish in Glenwood Springs: tube the Shoshone section at Glenwood Hot Springs (if conditions allow) or relax in the world’s largest hot springs pool. That night, head to the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue for dinner, local food, and lots of laughs. If you want this itinerary plus 12 more Western road trips in a free 46‑page book, save this post and comment "ROAD TRIP," and I’ll send you the link. 📖✨ #coloradomountaintowns #coloradoroadtrip #glenwoodsprings #vail #leadville
Colorado + You + Me 🚵🏻‍♀️⛰️🥾 Locations 📍Crested Butte and 📍Breckenridge One of my favorite things about Colorado is the mountain towns!🏔️ The charm of the local shops… the peaceful hikes… the feeling of slowing down and just being. Crested Butte and Breckenridge are two of my favorite places to visit any time of the year, but especially in Spring and Summer 🌸 Here are some fun curiosities + history about these beautiful mountain towns 🏔️✨ 📍Breckenridge • Founded in 1859 during the Gold Rush - people came here chasing gold, not views • One of the highest towns in the U.S. (over 9,600 ft!) • Its name was quietly changed during the Civil War to avoid ties to a Confederate general • Many of the colorful buildings downtown are original Victorian homes from the mining era. 📍Crested Butte • Started as a coal mining town in the late 1800s • Known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado 🌸 • One of the birthplaces of mountain biking in the U.S. • Famous for preserving its charm, no big chain stores in town. Save this for your next Colorado adventure ✨
Planning a summer trip to Crested Butte, Colorado? 🌸🏔️ This mountain town is known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado and for good reason. One of the best things to do in Crested Butte in summer is drive Gothic Road. This scenic alpine drive takes you through huge wildflower meadows, mountain views that feel straight out of a movie, and unforgettable hiking trails. If you have a high-clearance vehicle, keep going to Emerald Lake and the West Maroon Trailhead. The wildflowers here in peak summer are absolutely unreal. Another must-do is driving Kebler Pass and stopping at Lost Lake for a short hike and peaceful views. And don’t miss: ☕ Camp 4 Coffee 🌮 Bonez for dinner 🏔️ Exploring downtown Crested Butte 🌼 Wildflower reminder: These alpine ecosystems are fragile. Please stay on trails, don’t step on or pick wildflowers, and explore responsibly so we can keep places like this beautiful for years to come. ✨ Comment “WILDFLOWERS” and I’ll send you my Crested Butte itinerary. ✨ Save this guide for your Colorado summer road trip ✨ Follow for more Colorado travel ideas, scenic drives, and national park tips #crestedbutte #coloradotravel #coloradoroadtrip

Who’s ready for summer in the mountains?! 🙋🏼‍♀️ It’s hard to name a mountain town in Colorado that I don’t love, but one absolutely stole my heart and is my all time favorite!! ♥️ Can you guess what it is? Here are the reasons I love this one so much ⬇️ 1. The elevation is HIGH. Why is that a good thing you ask? Because it stays much cooler in the summer than other mountain towns. And if you’re from Texas and wanting to escape the heat? Like REALLY escape it? This town is the answer to all of your weather problems. 2. There are no bugs. Because of the higher elevation I mentioned above ⬆️, bugs don’t thrive here. Can you imagine a mosquito free summer? I can and I do…HERE in this town 🦟 ❌ 3. The views. Enough said. 🏔️ 4. It’s close to other small mountain towns, so day trips are easy and accessible. Even though you’ll probably never want to actually leave. 5. It’s got that small town charm but with big city amenities. Whole Foods and Lululemon with a side of hiking? Yes please. 🙋🏼‍♀️ 6. With over 825 miles of trails and dirt roads, over 55 miles of paved rec path and over 100 trailheads in the county, you will never EVER get bored. 🥾 🚴🏼 ⛷️ 🐎 🛹 It’s an outdoor lovers paradise 🌳⛰️🙌🏼 7. Did I mention wildlife? 🫎 🐻 🦊 SO MUCH WILDLIFE. 8. It has the BEST places to stay (you knew I’d work that in, right?!) 😉 Check out our favorites ⬇️ There are so many more reasons to love this historic mining town…what are yours?! Where to stay 📍🏡: 🌲 @chestnuthillcabin (sleeps 10) 🌲 @southernpinescabin (sleeps 8) 🌲 @mountainthunderbreck (sleeps 4) Let’s get your visit to the mountains on the calendar this week!! 📆 We’d love to host you! Can’t believe more people are not talking about this… Follow @americantravelarchives for more hidden gems and bucket list adventures across the U.S. 📍 Telluride, Colorado Nestled in the San Juan Mountains, Telluride is famous for its dramatic peaks, charming historic downtown, and fall aspen glow. The town combines small-town charm with world-class outdoor adventure, making it perfect for both exploration and relaxation. ✨ Why visit: • Gondola Ride: Free public gondola between Telluride and Mountain Village with sweeping views of golden aspens. • Historic Downtown: Quaint streets lined with shops, cafés, and colorful 1800s architecture. • Outdoor Adventures: Hiking, mountain biking, and fall leaf-peeping in the surrounding San Juan Mountains. • Fall Wildlife: Elk often roam the valleys in September–October during rut season. Would you ride the gondola for the views or explore the charming streets of downtown first?
🌊✨ THIS is where downtown gets quiet The Riverwalk. Right behind the shops… and somehow, most people miss it. One turn off the main street— and everything changes. The noise fades. The river takes over. Cold water moving over rock. Steady. Constant. Calming. You don’t need a plan here. Just walk. Wooden bridges. Sun or snow along the banks. The Big Thompson flowing beside you like it always has. It’s the kind of place where you slow down without trying. Where a quick walk turns into staying longer than you meant to. Where you remember… This is what you came for. 👇 Have you ever found this spot… or walked right past it? 💾 Save this for your next quiet moment in Estes 👥 Tag someone you’d walk this with Follow @EstesParkResortGuide for more hidden gems 🏔️🌲 #estespark #estesparkcolorado #rmnp #explorecolorado #visitcolorado #colorado #riverwalk #bigthompsonriver #downtownestes #hidden gems colorado #peacefulplaces #mountaintown #naturelovers #coloradoadventures #discovercolorado
