I always take pleasure when someone asks me to help remove a wasp nest for them. It takes away from them or someone else having to use toxic sprays to do away with them. Using just my bare hand, I was able to safely transport this Guinea Paper Wasp (Polistes exclamans) nest to the underside of a large tree branch. Applying a a small piece of adhesive putty to the back of the nest will ensure that the nest will continue to hold up, even if additions are added onto the nest by the workers of the hive! *Hand drawn stickers added to my store’s website for purchase via link in bio! Don't kill the wasp, just help it fly away! Thanks for the tip @svehini 🙏 All your need is a box of matches 😉 Remember, wasp might have a bad reputation, but they are very big pollinators, like bees! We need them 🙌 For more ideas on how to be more eco-friendly, visit our profile and find hundreds of @easyecotips 🌿 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #eco #easyecotips #tips #ecofriendly #ecotips #greentips #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #climatechange #globalwarming #reducereuserecycle #zerowastetips #noplanetb #plasticfree #sustainable #didyouknow #wasp #bees #savethebees #pollinators #vegan #wildlife #animals
Can you guess what I’ve got in my hands? Wait, wasps aren’t aggressive? Thats right! Social wasps get a bad rap for being “aggressive” but what if I told you you’ve completely misunderstood them? Social wasps spend their lives caring for and contributing to their colonies, this means they need to have a means of defending their brood and sisters! This can often seem like an aggressive response, but these insects are indeed responding to stimuli that makes them defensive! In my mind, aggression is associated with needless, or directionless attacks “for no reason” which these animals do not do. They defend their nests and their lives when they feel threatened like any other group of animal. It’s easy to hate wasps after taking a few stings, but it’s important to understand how you can prevent triggering that defensive response! Give them space, and leave them alone! You only get stung when you threaten a nest or accidentally trap an adult pinned against your skin! Stay safe, and don’t blame our friends for defending themselves! #wasp #wasps #insect #insects #animals

A WASP BUILDS WITH PAPER?! 🐝🏗️ Watch closely… this is how a paper wasp constructs its nest from scratch, one tiny fiber at a time. Using its powerful jaws, the wasp collects plant and wood fibers, chews them into a paper-like pulp, then carefully shapes the material into delicate cells. Layer by layer, the walls rise and the incredible hexagonal nest structure begins to appear. Turn the sound ON 🔊 — experience the natural buzzing, chewing and nest-building sounds while watching one of nature’s most fascinating insect architects at work. From the first cell to the growing paper comb, every detail reveals an extraordinary example of animal architecture, insect engineering and natural instinct. Would you have believed a wasp could actually make paper before humans did? 👀 Follow for more incredible wildlife behavior, animal construction, insect life cycles and hidden wonders of nature. 🌍 #PaperWasp #WaspNest #WaspNestBuilding #NestBuilding #Wasp Insects InsectWorld AnimalArchitecture NatureEngineering Wildlife WildlifeVideo Nature NatureLovers AmazingNature MacroWildlife MacroNature InsectBehavior AnimalBehavior NatureSounds OddlySatisfying SatisfyingVideos NatureDocumentary WildlifeReels NatureReels ViralReels
To me personally, yellowjackets look like little luxury sports cars! I especially love the look of this Common Aerial Yellowjacket (Dolichovespula arenaria) that I caught. Yellowjackets, like many other wasp species that live in colonies, construct their nests from collecting wood that they chew and mix using their saliva. The mixture is called wood pulp and the queen will be the first one to begin the construction of the nest during early spring. Yellowjackets are beneficial pollinators and are useful in the spreading of many fruit plants. They are also excellent predators for a whole host of insects, many of which can be pests for farmers and gardeners. When threatened, Common Aerial Yellowjacket females will deliver a venomous sting to their potential threat. Like many other species of wasps who are defensive when a perceived enemy enters near their nest, worker Common Aerial Yellowjackets will deliver a series of continuous stings until their foe retreats. One interesting ability that these yellowjacket species possess is a defense known as venom spraying. While workers are residing on the outside of their nest, they’ll spray their venom out from their stingers in a mist from birds who typically feed on insects! This form of deterrent can be very effective if the mist of venom gets into the mouth, eyes, and nasal passages of the bird. *Hand drawn stickers added to my store’s website for purchase via link in bio! A wasp builds a mud nest from scratch… and what happens inside is incredible. 🐝🏠 Using tiny mouthfuls of mud, the mother wasp carefully constructs a protected brood chamber. She prepares it for her young, lays an egg and finally seals the chamber with mud. Hidden inside, the egg becomes a larva, develops through its life cycle—and eventually a new adult wasp chews through the hardened mud and emerges into the outside world. From mud nest construction to new life emerging, this is one of nature’s most fascinating examples of animal architecture, insect behavior and survival instinct. #Wasp #WaspNest #MudWasp #WaspLifeCycle #NestBuilding NestConstruction AnimalArchitecture NatureEngineering InsectLife InsectBehavior Wildlife WildlifeReels NatureReels NatureDocumentary AmazingNature WildlifeVideo MacroNature NatureLovers IncredibleNature ViralReels
