🍰❤️🎶 #NacionSonora #GeorgeMichael #Wham #CarelessWhisper @georgemofficial
If you’re NOT listening to a wham song like this you’re listening wrong!!! #wham #georgemichael
Written and produced entirely by George Michael when he was just 21, “Freedom” was released on 1 October 1984 as the third UK single from Make It Big. It immediately replaced Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You” at No. 1, spending three consecutive weeks atop the UK Singles Chart, becoming Wham!‘s second UK No. 1 and another sign that George had become one of pop’s most gifted young songwriters. Unlike the carefree image of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” “Freedom” hinted at the direction George would eventually take. Beneath its bright hooks and infectious groove is a song about independence, growing up and wanting to escape expectations. Musically, it blended pop with soul and funk, featuring session legends Deon Estus on bass, Tommy Eyre on keyboards, Trevor Morrell on drums, Hugh Burns alongside Andrew Ridgeley on guitar, and a powerful horn section, all under George’s meticulous production. The track was recorded at Miraval Studios in France, where much of Make It Big came together. #freedom #georgemichael #80s #wham
Released in 1984, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” became one of Wham!’s most iconic songs—and its unforgettable title came from a simple spelling mistake. Andrew Ridgeley originally left a note for his parents saying “Wake me up before you go,” but accidentally repeated the word “go,” creating “Wake me up before you go-go.” When George Michael saw the note, he loved the playful phrase and turned it into the title of a song that would become pop history. Written and produced by George Michael, the track became Wham!’s first No. 1 single in both the United Kingdom and the United States, launching the duo into worldwide superstardom. Inspired by the energetic sounds of 1950s and 1960s pop and the classic Motown era, the song blended nostalgic influences with the bright, colorful style that defined 1980s pop music. The lyrics tell the story of someone asking their partner not to leave them behind for a night out, creating a fun and youthful celebration of love. Released as the lead single from Make It Big in May 1984, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” became a global phenomenon. With its infectious chorus, unforgettable style, and joyful energy, it remains one of the defining pop anthems of the 1980s and a song that still makes generations of fans smile.
Everything She Wants by Wham! was released in 1984 as part of their album Make It Big. The song blends pop, funk, and synth-driven sounds with a smooth but slightly tense groove. Lyrically, it focuses on pressure in relationships, expectations, and the stress of trying to provide success and stability. 💼🎹🎶 Fun fact: The song reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the UK Singles Chart, making it one of Wham!’s biggest hits. It was written and produced entirely by George Michael, showing his growth as a songwriter and helping establish him as more than just a pop frontman. . . #Wham #EverythingSheWants #80sPop SynthPop GeorgeMichael

In late 1984, at the height of their global explosion with the album Make It Big, Wham! (George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley) starred in a memorable TV and print advertising campaign for Maxell cassette tapes in Japan. During the 1980s, Japan’s booming economic era saw electronics giants hiring top-tier Western pop stars for Japan-exclusive television commercials—a phenomenon often referred to as "Gaijin commercials." Western artists gladly took these lucrative deals because the commercials were rarely broadcast in Western markets, preserving their artistic image back home while massive audio brands like Maxell, Sony, and TDK competed for market dominance among Japanese youth. Maxell contracted Wham! to promote their UDII high-bias blank cassette tapes. Rather than simply miming to their radio hits, Wham! created custom audio tracks specifically for the commercial campaign. #music #tv #japan
