5 things I wish I knew before turning my art into a business🎨:
1. You will evolve. I started with custom pet portraits and wedding signage. Some of those early pet portraits are still bestsellers today.
2. If you work in traditional mediums, scan everything.
3. Whatever you studied isn’t wasted. I have a degree in Asian American studies and thought I’d never use it. Nostalgic Asian food ended up being one of the foundations of kathyphantastic
4. Invest in coaching and education. TikTok and YouTube only get you so far. Paying for what someone else already figured out will save you real time, and time is money!
5. Even a slow market still teaches you something. Watch what people are drawn to before they buy. That’s free research.
