We need a woodstove revolution. Being connected to the grid is NOT it. Whenever we connect ourselves to the grid, we become dependent. If the power goes out, everything goes down… Well, it doesn’t have to. Having a reliable source of heat like this (or a course that makes sense for you where you live) is crucial. Power goes out and I can still go about my daily activities. Plus!! Putting on clothes that have just been warmed by the fire is…incredible. So cozy. My woodstove is not just about heat, it is about overall self-reliance on my homestead. I am so grateful I have it in my home and life! I can have a kettle for boiling water or to be a natural humidifier, cook food, warm food, dry my clothes, collect the ash for my garden, chickens, soap, and for traction on ice. My bread dough also rises by the fire in the winter! Think about the future…you need systems in place now for them the current system fails. Not if, when. Where you stay in Tokyo matters more than the hotel itself. The city is huge, so being well connected can save you hours over a week. 🗼 Akasaka is one of the most underrated bases. Multiple subway lines intersect here, it’s central, calm at night, and you can reach Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza, and Tokyo Station quickly without dealing with tourist chaos. Ginza is perfect if you want to be close to Tokyo Station and have direct access to JR lines, airport connections, and major sightseeing areas. It’s walkable, extremely convenient, and surprisingly quiet once the shops close. Asakusa / Asakusabashi works well if you’re focusing on east Tokyo and day trips. Great access to the Asakusa Line (direct to both airports), easy connections to Ueno and Akihabara, and generally better value for space compared to more central districts.
