How much do hardwood floors ACTUALLY cost? Because this was one renovation expense that genuinely shocked me 😅 When we renovated our roughly 3,000 sq. ft. home, we knew flooring was something we wanted to invest in. We chose a 5mm DuChâteau engineered white oak: real wood that can be refinished a few times throughout its lifetime. Here’s what we actually spent: Hardwood materials: just under $30,000 Demo of the existing floors: $10,000 😵‍💫 Installation + floating + baseboards: around $20,000 TOTAL: roughly $60,000 The $10K demo bill was the part I was NOT expecting. Even after renovating three homes, there were so many costs throughout this renovation that caught me off guard. Could we have chosen a less expensive material? Absolutely. But flooring was one place we wanted to invest because it runs throughout the entire house, and we wanted something timeless, beautiful and made to last. As a Realtor, I’m constantly walking through homes with clients who say, “We’d probably replace the floors… how much would that cost?” So I’m sharing the REAL numbers from our renovation to hopefully give you a better reference point when buying a home or planning your own renovation.
