✈️ How to get there
We flew from Boston to Reykjavík to Oslo to Bodø. From there, you have two main options:
• Fly into Svolvær or Leknes - the quickest and easiest option, though it can be pricey
• Take the ferry from Bodø to Moskenes - a good choice if you’re road tripping or renting a camper. It’s a beautiful ride if the weather is clear
🚐 Best way to explore
I really think the best way to do Lofoten is by camper van. It gives you the freedom to chase light, sleep near trailheads, and stop for views whenever you want. Public transport does exist, but it’s limited and makes it harder to reach the more remote spots
🗓 When to go
• Summer (late June to early August): Midnight sun, green landscapes, and golden light all night
• Fall (September): Fewer crowds, fall colors, and moodier skies
• Winter (December to March): Snowy peaks, cozy vibes, and a chance to see the Northern Lights
