Kerianne will teach us how to make an 8 page mini zine out of a single sheet of paper. No need for previous experience, all skill levels welcome! You can find us in the newly redesigned front coworking room [Suite 1] closest to College Ave. All supplies will be provided, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own paper items, embellishments, or collage material. Join Elting Memorial Library and Soujourner Truth Library at SUNY New Paltz for the One Week Zine Swap, a collaborative program for the whole community!⁠ ⁠ The Kickoff is at Sojourner Truth Library at SUNY New Paltz on Friday, April 17th, from 6-8 PM. There will be a zine-making workshop, where you’ll learn all about zine history and how to make a zine of your own. You’ll be able to fold your zine and meet other creative community members!⁠ ⁠ After that, you’ll have one week to complete your zine. Turn it in at Elting’s front desk by Friday, April 24th, at 7 PM. You’ll get ten free copies, and the option to donate a copy to Elting's and SUNY New Paltz’s zine libraries. Then, come to our Zine Swap on Saturday, April 25th, from 4-6 PM to trade with other participants, show off your work, and share your zine-making experience!⁠ ⁠ Registration for the challenge (which includes the workshop AND the swap) is limited to 25 participants, but attendance at the Zine Swap event is open to all. 👋 Abby the Zine Librarian here! One of my favorite things to do as a zine librarian is curate unique, one of a kind displays for class visits, research projects, and special occasions. This morning, I had the pleasure of working with Pace students enrolled in a creative writing course. For this class, I curated a zine display highlighting a few of our coolest place-based writing zines, poetry zines, and “per-zines” for students to read and analyze for a class interpretation assignment.
