We thought we’d had another wholesome Aussie wildlife rescue moment… until we realised the baby possum we’d just saved was, in fact, a rat. It was crawling across the driveway looking tragic, and we were gearing up for a heart-warming rescue story- turns out it was a rat on its last legs. Australia really keeps you humble. Sometimes the ocean steals the scene. 😆🌬️ @nuttynulty was flying the drone, focused on the shot, when a gray whale surfaced right next to us and sent a big blow into the air. Everyone laughed. Mike laughed too… and jokingly leaned in, making a face like, “okay, one more.” Then it happened — another blow. And then another. Three in a row. Perfect timing. Almost soaked the drone controller. Nothing went wrong, just laughter. Not because anything was expected — but because the wild has its own sense of humor. Calm, powerful… and every now and then, genuinely funny. 🎥 + 💭: @oceanscollin “I’ve traveled the world chasing wild encounters, only to have had the most incredible one yet in my own backyard off the coast of Massachusetts. The creature before me was a lion’s mane jellyfish - the world’s largest jellyfish species! Its bell can span a width of up to 7ft (2.1m) and its tentacles reaching lengths of up to 120ft (36.6m). That’s 10-30 feet longer than even the largest of blue whales, making the lion’s mane jellyfish the longest animal on planet earth! In the dark, distant waters, it appeared as a ghostly silhouette - quite eerie, to be honest. But as I got closer, the ghostly silhouette gave way to a fiery-colored giant. By far the most surreal experience I’ve ever had underwater. A reminder that wonder doesn’t always lie in distant places, sometimes it’s waiting just a step away from where we stand!” 🪼 #MarineMonday #LionsManeJellyfish
