Perfect belt loops start with a simple test strip. ✂️ I like to cut a longer strip so I can adjust my needle placement and stitch settings until everything is perfectly centered—without constantly recutting fabric. Once you find the sweet spot, mark the binder edge on your machine so you can line it up instantly next time. ✔️ Watch the full tip on YouTube for the complete walkthrough. 🎬 Belt Loop Folder Tips & Tricks ~ (YouTube link in bio)
This may be a quilter's best-kept secret....... Using glue sticks instead of pins?! 🪡🪡🪡Happy National Quilting Month🪡🪡🪡 🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵 When I first started sewing, I only chose patterns that felt easy and comfortable. I depended on YouTube videos so I could rewind and rewatch them 1,000 times. I was so hesitant to do anything “wrong.” I’ve learned that there really aren’t many wrong ways — just different techniques. And these days? ✨ I can follow a paper pattern with no video tutorial ✨ I do zippers like a boss (they used to terrify me!) ✨ I can go rogue, trust my instincts, and wing it when I want a specific look ✨ And yes… the stash has definitely grown 😅 thanks to @connectingthreads 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 In the beginning of my sewing journey ,I used to be a hard “no” for ♥️hand‑sewn projects ♥️Zippers ♥️Foundation paper piecing ♥️Garment making Sewing has a way of changing your mind — the things you once said “no way, I could never do that” slowly turn into “hmm… I think I want to give that a try.” 💛✂️ And currently , I have learned all these things 💪💪 What I love most is that I still want to learn sew much more. Sewing never gets boring — there’s always a new project to make, a new technique to try, something else calling my name. Here’s to growth, learning, and never losing that spark to try something new. 💛✂️ #sewingjourney #makerlife #evolvingmaker#ctambassador

Have you ever tried the serpentine stitch for quilting before? It is seriously so forgiving! I usually start in the middle and work my way out. I don’t mark lines, and after washing it, you can’t even tell that they aren’t perfectly straight. I bump my stitch length up a bit, but that’s totally optional. Comment BOWS and I can send you the link to the cute FQ friendly bow pattern! Pattern: Ribbons & Bows by me @sewandsew.quilting.co Fabric: @artgalleryfabrics
One of my favorite little sewing tools ✂️✨ I LOVE using a hemostat at my machine—it helps balance out bulky seams, works perfectly as a stiletto, and grabs onto even the tiniest pieces without slipping. Bonus: it keeps my fingers safe while I stitch 🙌 If you haven’t tried one yet, you’re missing out!
