Acceptance is a gentle act, like standing still in a storm and finding peace in the chaos.
In her story, Sayani Gupta speaks with quiet honesty about the invisible weights we all carry—the hesitations, the fears, the moments that make us feel smaller. By sharing her journey, she reminds us that vulnerability isn’t weakness – it’s strength. Thank you, Sayani, for sharing your light and proving that grace comes from embracing every part of who we are.

Day 25 - Self Acceptance
Dare I quote Kanye… “Everything I’m not made me everything I am.”
I’m a man of extremes. From a very early age, I knew I had no middle. It took time to understand that about myself. Even longer to embrace it. But I’ve learned to sharpen the side that serves me.
When it comes to self, I think our natural negative bias can make us frame our gifts as flaws sometimes.
The more aware I become, the more I try not to label my traits as good or bad. They just are. I believe there’s a beautiful equilibrium to be found somewhere in that level of self-acceptance.
Every last little bit of you is perfect, just as it is.
I've challenged myself to share 30 reels in 30 days—to mentor those who see me as a success story or a source of inspiration. When I think of my own mentors, I often wish they had left a clearer breadcrumb trail. So, here’s mine.

It’s September! We’re creeping up on the time of year in which I like to stab the myth of “getting old” right in its beady little eyes and thank the universe for giving me continued time and opportunities to grow into the person I’m meant to be. This year, I’m personally planning to flip the script on the fear of my body “failing” me by thanking my budding neck hump, a sign of my devotion to waking up every day and poring over words, sacrificing my eyesight and all hopes of ergonomic posture to the obsession of getting every comma, quotation mark and semi-colon just right. Forged from my commitment to re-reading things five times aloud (to see if “strolled” has more sonic punch than “sauntered”), leaning in empathetically and nodding like a bobblehead during interviews, and improving my craft through repition, my hump represents a portfolio of work that arguably speaks for me just as much as my physical body.
Some backstory: I used to teach yoga. When I graduated w/ my 200-hour teacher training certification, anatomy classes fresh in my mind, I harbored so much fear about having “bad posture.” I judged myself harshly and felt afraid of getting my posture “wrong.” I worried my students would call me a hack if my body didn’t look like a yogi’s. And so, I feared my writing passion. For every hour I sat in a chair, I did an hour of yoga to counteract the “bad habit” of slouching. I once built a desk on the floor so I could write while sitting on a meditation cushion and police my spine curvature the whole time.
Years later, when I moved to New York, I met “real” writers—the kind whose vocation had sculpted their bodies into fact-finders. They walked w/ heads jutting forward and glasses balanced on their noses, as if they literally stuck their noses in everything. Heavy cameras hung from their cervical spines, pulling their shoulders forward and rounding their upper backs into a hump.
It hit me on a press trip this year: What a joy and privilege it is to devote one’s body to a craft. Obviously longevity matters and we should never give our bodies over to the great commercial machine without fair compensation, but this year, I’m taking my neck bump as a win. 🏆
Share this very very very important reminder with someone who needs to hear it❤️

Acceptance is understanding that it’s okay to not be okay—a quiet embrace of the storm within, allowing yourself to feel without judgment.
