An inclusive country is one where everyone has the opportunity to fully participate and succeed. Happy National AccessAbility Week! This week is all about celebrating the valuable contributions of persons with disabilities and recommitting ourselves to breaking down barriers across the country. It was wonderful to chat with Paralympians Maddie Mullin and Brooke Ailey to hear firsthand what accessibility means to them as we work together to build a barrier-free Canada for everyone.
I’ve heard about Woojer Vests before but never had the opportunity to try it out till now, thanks to @disneyparks & @waltdisneyworld (Shout out to Christopher & Morgan for making this happen) This vest connects to what the DJ is playing just like the headphones, however, instead of playing music, it vibrates to the beat all around the vest, both the front and back, so I can feel the music. This silent DJ Dance Party was so fun! #hostedbydisney #ad #disneycreatorcelebration #sparkjoyintheeveryday #ThisIsMagic #deaf #deafdad #deafadult #asl #signlanguage #accessability #inclusion #inclusivity #deafcommunity #deafculture #deafandhearingfamily #deafandhearing #disneyadult #disneyaddict #disneylove #disneycreatorscelebration #disneygram #disneyparks
I do love a good clean. I can’t see the water marks…..but I know they are there just waiting to be washed away. Video shows Claire feeling around her shower screen frame. She then sprays cleaning product down the glass panel and scrubs with a scrubbing sponge. She then feels the metal frame and lines the rubber blade of the karcher window vac up with it and glides down the pane of glass. It the shows a close up of Claire tapping the clean clear glass. #Blind #Cleaning #BlindnessAwarenessMonth #Disability #accessability #SightLoss

A new app for blind travelers! Most street corners lack pedestrian signals we can feel or hear. Imagine the liberation offered by an app using AI to read visual signals! OKO by @Ayes_ai is free, too! I’m excited for portable, accessible pedestrian signals, but I also have questions: How reliable is it? Video Transcript Video Description. Haben Girma and her guide dog Mylo are standing at a street corner. She is holding up her phone toward the pedestrian signal. iPhone: (Don’t walk signal, Slow Beeping). Haben: I’m testing out a new app called OKO. When I get to an intersection, I hold up my phone and scan for a pedestrian signal. When it detects it and it’s a red light, it beeps slowly. It also pulses so I can feel the vibration. Then when the light changes, it speeds up. So you can either hear or feel when the light’s green. (Fast beeping). Description: Haben puts her phone in her pocket and then speaks to her guide dog. Haben: Forward! Description: Seeing Eye dog Mylo starts walking into the intersection with Haben. Haben: Then my guide dog and I cross the street. #OKO #Blind #Deafblind #Accessability #AccessiblePedestrianSignal #GuideDogs
