But did they tell you that? Or are you saying this because it benefits you and it’s convenient for you? I get it, not everyone has the ability to get out to the mountains, and not every dog will thrive doing the same things. But I encourage you to try getting outside because your dog needs more than a backyard. A neighbourhood walk, a local trail or park…and you never know, it might become your new favourite thing to do! Also you don’t need to be going on adventures every single day, the important part is getting outside! Year Two of Whimsy Whimsy’s second year of life spanned the entire South American continent. It began in Colombia after we completed a five-day trek across the Darien Gap and completed 20,000km later, and entirely by coincidence, as we reached the bottom of Patagonia. She trekked over the Andes, braved fierce Amazonian wildfires, and joined the camp dog pack on a horseback journey. She copiloted like a pro, suffered endless parades of selfies with a diva’s poise, and even made it through her first heat cycle without any regrettable incidents. She makes our life together extraordinary and, more importantly, like all dogs everywhere, she never gives the impression of taking a moment of it for granted.
