Alclad Chrome! Probably the most accessible chrome paint around, since it’s available in most hobby and craft stores, and comes in small 2oz bottles so the sticker price is always low. Even comes in ready to spray rattle cans (that work GREAT) so it’s possible to use even without an airbrush. Lacquer base, as opposed to a more aggressive solvent. Even after all these tests it’s still staying on my short list of favorite paints. #alclad #chrometest #alcladchrome

To answer some questions I’ve been getting about my droid, NOTHiNG is 3d printed on my droid. He is entirely fiberglass. Major shout out to the couple of you that have 3d printed your 3po’s, that was my original plan as well. Even still, prepping the fiberglass for the alclad took WORK. • Simplified version: buffed primer, white base coat, wet sand 800-2000, rubbing compound, polishing compound 2x, airbrushed Alclad 2 chrome, buff super hard. Done. • Every part of the droid was finished this way based on @gordontarpley methods except for the rubber shorts and shoes, those were a whole other battle. If you’ve ever met my droid before and felt the finish on him (although I’d prefer you didn’t touch him😎) you’ll feel how glassy smooth he is. This is all because of the polishing before the alclad goes on. Could *possibly* make someone believe he is actually made of metal. Happy #fighterfriday to you - another oil panel line wash quick tutorial - make sure you use a good acrylic based gloss clear coat before trying this technique- otherwise you could stripe your paint - I use Aquagloss from alclad but any acrylic clear should work fine.
