OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company would work with the Department of Defense after Anthropic refused to allow its AI models to be used for “all lawful purposes.” The move sparked backlash online, with critics accusing OpenAI of selling out—and users rushing to Anthropic’s Claude, briefly crashing its services.

We could afford to ignore AI a few months ago.
We cannot anymore.
And Marcus Sheridan made that impossible to argue with.
Because you can be worried about where it is headed.
You can be skeptical.
You can believe it still has a long way to go.
The uncertainty about where this is all headed is completely valid.
But we cannot worry about what AI is taking away while ignoring what it is giving us.
And the truth is we are just starting to taste what it is actually capable of.
We are not even close to seeing the full picture yet.
So the question is not whether AI is good or bad.
The question is are you paying enough attention to what it can do for your business right now while everyone else is still debating it.
....
What side of this are you on?

"Under Joe Biden, the share of Y Combinator companies that were AI companies rose from something like 20% to 90%. So this idea that the Biden admin. wasn't going to allow AI startups to exist certainly runs in the face of the evidence."
@dkthomp challenges Marc Andreessen's claim.

Here’s a clear summary of the viral article by Matt Shumer that’s been circulating about AI and jobs — the one people often refer to when they talk about AI “replacing jobs”:
📄 What the Matt Shumer article (“Something Big Is Happening”) argues
The essay — published online and widely shared across social media — claims AI capabilities are improving far faster than most people realize. Shumer compares the current moment in AI to early 2020 just before the COVID-19 pandemic caught mainstream attention.
He says modern AI isn’t just doing small tasks anymore — it can handle complex cognitive work (like legal research, coding, analysis, writing, etc.) in ways that are rapidly approaching or surpassing many human professionals.
Shumer points out that some AI systems can now improve themselves and contribute to building future generations of AI, creating a feedback loop of accelerating capability.
He cites predictions (e.g., from AI leaders like Dario Amodei) that AI could eliminate significant numbers of white-collar roles — such as entry-level office jobs — within a few years.
The central takeaway of the piece is a call to prepare early: learn to use advanced AI tools, understand how they integrate with work, and adapt skills before the broader labor market does.
