അമ്പൂരി നിവാസികളുടെ അരനൂറ്റാണ്ടു നീണ്ട കാത്തിരിപ്പിന് വിരാമമിട്ടുകൊണ്ട് കുമ്പിച്ചൽകടവ് പാലം നാളെ പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്കായി തുറന്നു നൽകും. നെയ്യാർ ഡാം വന്നതോടെ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടുപോയ തൊടുമല, കാരിക്കുഴി തുടങ്ങി 11 ആദിവാസി ഊരുകളിലെ 1700-ലധികം കുടുംബങ്ങൾക്ക് ഇനി തോണിയെ ആശ്രയിക്കാതെ മറുകരയെത്താം. കിഫ്ബിയുടെ 24 കോടി രൂപ ധനസഹായത്തോടെയാണ് അതിസങ്കീർണമായ ഈ നിർമ്മാണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയത്.
സാങ്കേതികമായി ഏറെ സങ്കീർണ്ണമായ നിർമ്മാണ രീതികളാണ് ഈ പാലത്തിനായി അവലംബിച്ചത്. കേരളത്തിൽ ഒരു ഡാം റിസർവോയറിന് കുറുകെ നിർമ്മിക്കുന്ന ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പാലമാണിത്. വികസനത്തിനൊപ്പം ടൂറിസം സാധ്യതകൾക്കും ഈ പാലം വഴിതുറക്കും. അപ്രോച്ച് റോഡുകൾക്ക് പുറമെ കടവിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങുന്നതിനായി 4 മീറ്റർ വീതിയുള്ള പ്രത്യേക സർവീസ് റോഡും പണിതിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിർമ്മാണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി നാടിന് സമർപ്പിക്കാൻ ഒരുങ്ങുന്ന കുമ്പിച്ചൽകടവ് പാലം അമ്പൂരിയുടെയും പാറശ്ശാല മണ്ഡലത്തിന്റെയും വികസന ചരിത്രത്തിലെ സുവർണ്ണ അധ്യായമായി മാറും.
