When that Friday feeling hits, there’s only one thing to do - dance! 💃🕺
#AnotherRound – Streaming on Studiocanal Presents.
Mads Mikkelsen says he initially “hated” the idea of ending Another Round (2020) with a dance sequence:
“I thought it was wrong for the film. This is a realistic film. It’s too pretentious.”
Mikkelsen performed every move in the final dance of Another Round. A trained dancer, he hadn’t used those skills in 30 years.
The scene was shot after Thomas Vinterberg lost his daughter. He later called the film a “beautiful catastrophe.”
The film spends most of its runtime grounded in quiet despair, emotions suppressed. When the final dance arrives, it’s a release that’s been building the whole time.

We desperately need something life-affirming, especially right now! 🤍
And that's exactly what the final dance scene from "Another Round" is about. It's a cathartic, ambiguous climax symbolizing a "dancing catastrophe"—a blend of immense joy and deep sorrow. It represents ultimate liberation, emotional release, and acceptance of life's instability following a tragic loss, transitioning from midlife stagnation to a momentary, weightless joy. 🕺🏻
The song “You Get What You Give” is a pep talk for dreamers, encouraging them to keep their "music" (passion/soul) alive despite feeling broken or overwhelmed. The central theme emphasizes a karmic outlook, suggesting that the effort, love, and positivity you put into the world will return to you, rather than focusing on materialistic gains. It aimed to empower a generation navigating societal pressures to stay true to themselves and "fly high".
Therefore, even in the darkest times, we should celebrate our existence and feel joy despite the crisis, even if it feels strange!
With Love & Compassion 🤍
