Apple Tarte Tatin An easy apple tarte tatin made with store-bought puff pastry. It has an almost burnt caramel syrup, roasted apples, and a super flaky base. Full recipe is below, but if you want more details comment ‘recipe’ and I’ll send you a link to the full post on the site! 2-3 apples - peeled, cored and cut into large wedges. Use a firm apple and ideally something that is slightly tart. 1 sheet puff pastry - thawed 3 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup white granulated sugar pinch salt You’ll need an 8-inch ovenproof skillet for this recipe. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Add the sugar and butter to a saucepan. Melt over medium-high heat, swirling the pan to combine. Cook until the caramel turns a deep, dark brown. Once caramel is a nice deep brown carefully add the apple wedges. Turn them in the caramel and cook for 5 minutes or so, making sure to get the apples well coated. Remove from the heat and arrange the apples in a circular pattern in the pan, ensuring they are in an even layer. Unroll the puff pastry and roughly cut into a circle about 2 inches larger than your pan. I like to use a small plate as a guide. Remove the excess pasty dough. Lay the puff pastry over the apples and gently tuck in the edges around the fruit. Bake in a 400°F oven for 30-35 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes. To invert the tarte Tatin, place a plate over the pan and quickly flip it over. Be careful not to burn yourself. Adjust any apples that may have shifted during the flip, then serve. This is great as is or with some vanilla ice cream, or a scoop of whipped cream. https://mosthungry.com/apple-tarte-tatin/ #tartetatin #easytartetatin #dessert #baking

I can’t tell you how many apple tarte tatins I messed up to get this recipe right for The Science of Baking 😅 everytime they came out wet, mushy or stuck to the pan 😅 The best technique I found (I didn’t explain this v well in the video) is to bake extra apples on a separate tray of caramel, then pack them into the pan after the first bake! The apples shrink during the first bake so this worked really well for me to get a full, beautifully spiralled finish. My book The Science of Baking is out next week in the U.K 😱 (and April 16th everywhere else!). Get the full recipe in the book! Click the link in my bio to order it or @bookshop_org_uk are doing 10% off with the code ‘LOVEBOOKSHOPS’. Thank you for ALL the support can’t wait for you guys to get it!!
Pirate apple puff — caramel, rum and coffee turn simple apples into a dangerously good dessert. Heat 4–5 tbsp brown sugar in a pan until it melts into caramel. Add 1 tsp rum, 1 tbsp strong coffee and a couple of small pieces of butter. The sauce becomes dark, glossy and fragrant. Add sliced apples and coat them in the caramel. Lay a sheet of ready-made puff pastry over the apples and tuck the edges slightly. Bake at 190°C (fan 180°C) for 15–18 minutes or cook in the air fryer at 180°C for 10–12 minutes until the pastry turns golden. Flip it over. You get caramelised apples, flaky pastry and a deep sweet-bitter rum-coffee flavour. A bold little dessert that smells like a pirate ship kitchen. Save this recipe, tap like and follow for quick desserts with serious flavour. #appledessert #puffpastryrecipe #easybakinguk #quickdessertideas #Foodie
