With Catifa Carta, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also embrace circularity as a design principle. Its shell, crafted from @papershellindustries — a wood-based composite made of 29 sheets of responsibly sourced paper bonded with natural resin — stores carbon throughout its lifecycle. At the end of its journey, the bi-curved shell can be transformed through pyrolysis into biochar — a carbon-rich resource that nourishes soil and supports biodiversity. A reinterpretation of the Catifa 53, originally designed by Lievore Altherr Molina in 2001, Catifa Carta pioneers the use of innovative materials, setting a new standard for circular design in the industry.
