We love @oldmill.ashford we’ve been before but they have a new chef and new menu items so it was time to revisit! The beef croquette starters were delicious, so was the Tuscan chicken and the beef and ale pie was full with a delicious gravy.
We managed desserts, I got the chocolate mousse which was really lovely, Josh got the Folkstone pudding which was ok but we wouldn’t get it again. We love the vibe here, its such a nice pub and restaurant and the staff are always friendly - plus they’ve got board games you can play if you are popping in for a drink and dogs are welcome in the bar area.

The most awkward attempted break-in you’ll see today. 🤦♂️📡 A follower sent this in after an incident on Feltham Road in Ashford (near Hounslow). This guy reportedly used a “signal jammer” to take down the house’s alarm system... only to pull his hoodie over his face, knock on the door twice, get spooked when the son answered the intercom, and just casually wander off. He supposedly had a getaway driver waiting nearby on Wye Close in a VW Polo. Reg: PK24 UVT Please share this to raise awareness in the local area! Spelthorne Safer Neighbourhood Team were joined by #VanguardRST officers (@surreyroadsafe in #Ashford last Tuesday. They pulled over multiple cars and carried out checks to make sure their front windows were legal.
Did you know that for vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front windows must let at least 70% of light through.
Darker tints can:
⚠️Reduce visibility, especially at night, or in bad weather
⚠️Make it harder to see pedestrians and cyclists
⚠️Lead to serious accidents
If yours are tinted too much, you could be landed with:
🚗A prohibition notice stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed
🚗A penalty notice or court summons
Rear windows are fine to be tinted darker. It’s not about style, it’s about safety.
I have written to KCC and spoken to its leader in person about the closure of the #Ashford Household Waste and Recycling Centre, which has been closed since February. This is unacceptable.
This is causing significant frustration for many residents, especially over bank holidays, and is undoubtedly contributing to fly-tipping in our community.
I will continue to press KCC to get the facility reopened.
