I’ve been trying to figure out a way to do the aurora nail trend without it looking chunky… here is my method! Suggestions welcome!
1 - use the sculpted @apresnailofficial sculpted tips as they have a more pronounced apex which fits the extra gel & aurora paper underneath! I go a size up to account for this!
2 - the ellipse shaped papers work best as they leave enough space for the tips to be used as normal after encapsulating.
3 - Bend the aurora paper so it will nestle into the curve of the tip (I think some use a hair dryer to quicken this process).
4 - Add a thick line of extend gel into the underside of the tip, about the length and shape of your aurora paper. Also coat the corresponding side of your aurora paper. Gently lay the aurora paper onto the underside of the tip from one end, letting it naturally fall into place to prevent air bubbles. Let it settle evenly before curing.
5 - Add top coat on the underside of the length of the tip that will be exposed from your nail bed.
6 - Prep your natural nail with base coat, top coat & aurora powder of your choice, then extend gel ready for applying the tip.
7 - You can then use your custom made encapsulated-aurora-tip as you normally would with extend gel, finish with more aurora powder and seal it all in with top coat.
8 - Non-bulky aurora / uru uru / ice nails! Rejoice!
Might still need to perfect this technique, any advice on getting my gel crystal clear? I want the glass-finish but there’s always some minuscule bubbles, maybe potted gel rather than bottle?
