If you are planning a trip to the Bahamas and you have your eye on Baha Mar, just beware of these because we had no idea. 1. The service was not great. Not saying that people were rude but when our room wasn’t ready for check in till 4:30, the front desk concierge explained that that’s totally normal and should be expected. When we requested credit for a restaurant or any other credit for the inconvenience, she just said “no!” There were plenty of really nice people too but it was definitely not a standardized top notch experience as you would expect from such a nice resort. 2. Beware of the swimming with the pigs tours. Two out of 6 kids in our group got bit and one of them was actually bleeding. 3. Even though it says kids under 5 eat free that’s not at every restaurant. An adult dinner for 2 will run you $200 minimum, unless you get pizza. They also made us wait 45 minutes for a to go order of chicken fingers, which cost $20 and came out raw inside! 4. Services booked through the hotel are insanely expensive. I didn’t know any better and booked a car with car seats to pick us up from the airport. It was $250 round trip when a taxi would charge you $50 each way. We needed up cancelling it, which was a whole other debacle! 5. The whole place is very sleepy till 9:30 or so. The water park doesn’t open till 10 and our kids wake up at 6am so we had some long hours of waiting each morning. There were obviously so many fantastic things about the resort too! Did the bad outweigh the good? No, we still had a great time. But did we feel like we were in paradise? Not with that service… P.S. I realize I sound like a spoiled brat.. I’m only mentioning all this because I feel like we went in with our expectations being way too high… #bahamar #review #service #vacation #bahamas

Breakfast of champs! Starting the day off right @bahamarresorts This is at DAQS in BahaMar. It’s located by all of the cute little shops out by the pools near the SLS. This is where they sell the daiquiris in pineapples. Ask for a cup of pineapple with rum.

BAHA MAR HOTEL OPTIONS A family vacation to Baha Mar does feel like a rite of passage for a lot of parents, but it requires some expectation setting if you're anticipating a luxury beach getaway (which, considering the rates esp during peak travel periods, you're not wrong to expect). YES, it is convenient. You'll fly into NAS and then within 15 minutes you're at the resort. YES, the 3 hotels within the Baha Mar development offer rooms at a wide range of price points, which makes it a really happy solution if you're traveling with a group of families working with different budgets. YES, their Baha Bay waterpark is convenient, free for hotel guests, and filled with rides and play areas for kids of all ages. It is definitely newer and nicer than Atlantis. And... Rosewood Baha Mar is the nicest hotel, but it is nowhere near the same level of service, food, and room quality compared to other Rosewood resorts like Mayakoba, Mandarina, Kona Village, etc. You will be disappointed if you're expecting a similar caliber stay. The pool chair game is real. If you don't want to snag chairs at 7am every day on spring break, you'll need to pay to reserve a cabana. This is much less of an issue if you're staying at Rosewood because they have an exclusive pool only for their guests. Room category descriptions aren't always accurate. There are absolutely rooms to avoid across all 3 hotels. There are rooms marked as having an ocean view that no longer have any sliver of a view due to the growing palm trees. We've asked the hotels to rename some room categories, but until then, we work closely with each client to propose their best-fit room options before booking. We share this not to dissuade you from going to Baha Mar... if your kids love water parks, it's really one of the best options! But we've seen too much to NOT be honest about some of the common complaints, and we want our clients going in with eyes wide open. Our hotel-only booking is a free service.
