Joseph Haydn (1732) — “Papa Haydn,” the father of the symphony AND the string quartet. Without him, Mozart and Beethoven would not exist as we know them. Fun fact: Bach was born on March 21 (Old Style calendar), which converts to March 31 in our modern calendar — the exact same day Haydn was born 47 years later!
