Le Salon international de la haute horlogerie n’a pas été créé par hasard en 1991. À l’époque, le salon dominant, c’est Baselworld. Toutes les grandes marques y sont présentes, mais certaines maisons jugent le modèle trop massif, trop ouvert, et surtout pas assez maîtrisé. Le groupe Richemont décide alors de créer son propre salon à Genève, beaucoup plus sélectif, avec seulement 5 marques au départ : Cartier, Piaget, Baume & Mercier, Gérald Genta et Daniel Roth. L’objectif est clair : reprendre le contrôle de la distribution, de l’image et des relations avec les détaillants. Le salon est ensuite structuré par la Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, qui va en faire un rendez-vous stratégique pour toute l’industrie. Pendant des années, le SIHH fonctionne en parallèle de Baselworld… mais avec une approche totalement différente : moins de volume, mais plus d’influence. Puis tout bascule en 2020. Alors que Baselworld perd ses plus grandes maisons comme Rolex ou Patek Philippe, Genève change de dimension. Le SIHH évolue et devient Watches and Wonders Geneva. Aujourd’hui, le salon réunit plus de 60 marques et attire plus de 55’000 visiteurs, confirmant le basculement du centre de l’horlogerie mondiale vers Genève. Ce que peu de gens réalisent, c’est que derrière les lancements visibles… une grande partie des décisions commerciales et stratégiques se joue ici, bien avant l’arrivée des produits en boutique. The Royal Oak is considered to be the most popular watch that Audemars Piguet currently manufactures, and it was first introduced at the 1972 #Baselworld watch fair. Designed by Gerald Genta, who is also responsible for designing other iconic timepieces, it is considered to be the first luxury sports watch. The watch takes inspiration from the portholes found on boats and features exposed screw heads as well as a unique case design and an integrated link bracelet. Well regarded and coveted around the globe for its assured and confident aesthetic the #Audemars #Piguet #Royal #Oak combines bold design choices with exquisite craftsmanship. This particular iteration of the #RoyalOak, reference 26320OR.OO.D088CR.01 is crafted in a stunning 41mm 18ct pink gold case featuring the iconic Genta octagonal “porthole” bezel with 8 screws. This bezel nicely frames the silvered “Grande Tapisserie” #dial, which is further embellished with a date aperture located between 4/5 o’clock and completed by triple chronograph sub-dials at 3/6/9. Powered by an in house automatic calibre 2385 chronograph movement which is protected by a solid 18ct rose gold caseback, with the watch presented on a black alligator strap with matching 18ct pink gold deployment clasp.
