Sausage, caribou, and beef feast after the Iowa Deer Classic! Grateful for a great show, but we'll be stocked up for Illinois. See you soon! #WildGameCooking #DeerClassic #OutdoorFeast #CaribouBurgers #WildHogSausage #MrRubsSeasoning #PostShowVibes #HunterLife #Foodie
Many people don’t realize that bear meat is extremely versatile for culinary purposes - you can break down the quarters the same as any other big game animal, but bears have the advantage of having more fat than deer or elk. And remember, fat equals flavor in most cases! #meatprocessing #wildgamecooking #beargrease #wildgamerecipes #bearmeat
🐻 Have you ever eaten bear meat? Well… I did today. For the very first time in my life! Someone that Daniel recently got to know gifted us some bear sausages. It looked completely normal — just like any other sausage you’d find at the store. But the moment it started cooking, there was a very distinct aroma. I paused for a second. “Hmm… not sure about this…” Then I took a bite. And… wow. It was actually delicious. 😳✨ It was lean, hearty, and surprisingly satisfying. I’m sure the seasoning was done beautifully, because it didn’t have a strong wild taste at all. Very easy to enjoy. Years ago, I lived in Utah, where hunting is quite common. I’ve tried different kinds of wild game before — but bear was a first for me. Definitely a rare and memorable experience. There’s a phrase in Japanese that basically means “disliking something without ever trying it.” And really… that doesn’t just apply to food. How often do we decide something isn’t for us before we’ve even taken a bite? We assume: “It’s probably not good.” “It’s not for someone like me.” “That won’t work.” And just like that, we shrink our world based on assumptions. But sometimes, life is like that bear sausage. Unexpected. A little intimidating at first. And surprisingly good once you’re willing to try. Living inside our own fixed ideas can quietly make our world smaller. Maybe it’s worth taking a bite anyway. 😉
Spent some time making smoked bear jerkey. It was a hit and enjoyed by everyone. #bearmeat #bradleysmoker #camplife #remoteliving #eatwhatyouhunt #laboraoutfitters
50 lbs of deer, bear and elk bones made into almost 50 quarts of wild game bone stock. It took us 4 days with prepping, cooking, cooling, skimming and straining with 12, 18, and 24 hour cooks on different pots. The longer it goes the more gelatinous it becomes and it gets more flavorful too. It also becomes more nutrient dense the longer it cooks, and is a great source of collagen. We use it for roasts, stews, ramen, and more! In the cold months we enjoy just sipping on it every now and then too. It’s definitely a labor of love but well worth it! #bonestock #wildgame #wildgamecooking #wildgamerecipes #meatprocessing

More clips daily — follow All credit to the original creator Wild game isn’t unusual in many places — it’s normal food. Elk, deer, and bison are lean, natural, and hunted instead of farmed. For a lot of people it’s simply the most natural meat you can eat. #wildgame #huntinglife #naturalfood #outdoorculture #reelsviral

Time to get cooking! Decided to whip up some awesome meals using the leftover black bear in the freezer. Managed to make some pretty decent ribs. Then my dad took some of the big legs and turned them into ham !! #outdoors #blackbear #blackbearhunting #cooking #adventure
Frills and fiber are for when you're back home. At the deer lease, it's Little Debbies and meat. Some cheese if you're feeling fancy. #huntinglease #deerhunting #steaks #itswhatsfordinner #carnivore
If you’re anything like me, this time of year the freezer is loaded with ground meat from the season. Instead of another round of burgers, we turned some of our ground elk into jerky… and it came out absolutely fantastic. Tender, savory, and perfect for a quick snack. Wild game doesn’t get much better than this. Who else is making jerky right now? #elkburger #wildgame #huntcookeat #fromfieldtoplate #montanahunting
Last year I provided over 200 pounds of meat for my family through hunting. Throughout the seasons, I was lucky to harvest a pronghorn buck, buck mule deer, and cow elk. Not every season is this successful, so I am extremely grateful for each and every harvest that allows us to stock pile our freezer. Between my husband and I, we eat about 4-6 pounds of wild game per week, so these animals will feed us for an entire year. This also means we won’t be buying red meat from the grocery store anytime soon (thank goodness). Questions about hunting or how we cook our wild game?
