Drawing blood from a PICC line — step by step (Part 1).
This demo walks through how to prepare supplies, maintain aseptic technique, check for patency, and collect ordered tubes safely.
A few small reminders that make a big difference:
• scrub the hub well and let it dry
• never introduce air into the line
• confirm patency before collecting
• keep connections steady so nothing disconnects
• gently invert tubes — don’t shake them
This is skills-lab style education, so always follow your facility’s policy and clinical educator guidance.

I used to suck at drawing blood 🩸 then with repetition I got really good at it since I started at the women’s hospital, but IVs are a totally different story.
