I didn’t expect this theatre to still have so much details in Syria 🤯 located in southern Syria, is one of the most well-preserved ancient theatres from the Roman era. Built in the 2nd century AD, during the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus, it could originally seat around 15,000 spectators. The theatre is famous for its impressive semi-circular seating arrangement, and its stage is flanked by well-preserved columns and arches. Made from local basalt, the structure demonstrates the typical Roman engineering prowess with a blend of Greek and Roman architectural styles. What makes Bosra especially remarkable is that it was in continuous use for performances up until modern times, contributing to its excellent state of preservation. Today, it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Roman culture and the significance of Bosra as a major city in the Roman province of Arabia Check out my other vlogs 😍 Honestly, my trip to Bosra has been very safe. The General Security were present everywhere, showing their commitment to keeping the streets and tourist sites as secure as possible. We truly hope security in Syria continues to develop. 📍Bosra Roman Theatre Ancient City of Bosra Daraa - Syria Don’t forget to follow! 🇮🇹 PAZZESCO! ASCOLTA L’ACUSTICA PERFETTA! 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 🇬🇧 UNBELIEVABLE! LISTEN TO THE PERFECT ACOUSTICS! We are in the ancient Roman Theater of Bosra, in southern Syria, built in the 2nd century AD under Emperor Trajan. What stands out, beyond its distinctive black color due to the significant presence of basalt in the construction, is its exceptional acoustics: even a mere whisper from the center of the orchestra can be clearly heard by spectators seated in the back row. This acoustic experiment, besides being enjoyable for entertainment, helps us understand how the Romans’ superior architectural engineering skills, such as their use of materials and attention to symmetry, allowed for such perfect sound diffusion. 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 📹 Video by @aryaanmisra 🎤 @planeolchris 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 #siria #bosra #romantheater #architettura #archeologia

Once the prosperous Nabatean city and later the provincial capital of the Roman province of Arabia Petraea Bosra was a highlight traveling around Syria- one that I didn’t even have on my radar. The impressively preserved 2nd-century Roman theater is the main feature that was at one time a vital stop on the ancient caravan routes linking Damascus to the Arabian Peninsula. We had Bosra completely to ourselves with the sounds of our voices echoing back to us off of the black basalt ruins. Bosra was a definite must on the Syria Expedition I will be running April 22-30, 2025. We have some space, so send a DM for further details. #Busra #Bosra #Syria #Levant #RomanRuins

This is not the Roman ruin you’ve seen a million times on IG. And it’s definitely NOT where you think it is. Tucked away in southern Syria, Bosra’s Roman theater is one of the best-preserved in the world, and yet it’s barely known nor talked about…. But it rewards the intrepid traveler lucky enough to see it! This theater is made of black basalt stone, seats for 17,000 people, and has perfect acoustics. 🤩 I’ve seen a lot of ancient ruins on my travels but I kid you not - I walked in and I almost cried seeing how intact this theater is. 😭 Visitors can still climb to the top. Jump on the stage. Hear their voice carry with stunning acoustics. What an absolute DREAM moment to get to see this in real life.
