Poor Carl all he ever wanted was a pair of pants 👖 but the AI kept giving him toe rings 💍 So if you were in the dungeon, what is the number one thing that you would want or beg for? Me, it would be a Kindle with an unlimited battery so that way I can keep reading the spicy stuff 🔥 #dungeoncrawlercarl #mattdinniman #bookishhumor

Dungeon Crawler Carl comes out May 12th! I am going to start a reread of all seven books, so you don’t have to. I plan to give recaps and summaries of each book, so make sure to follow, like, and favorite so you can get all the recaps as they come out! What’s a book you can reread over and over? Keywords: •Matt Dinniman •DCC •LitRPG •recap •read •booktok •bookstagram •bookstagrammer •fyp

Total honesty: I have some thoughts on Dungeon Crawler Carl! 🐈💥 I wanted to love this one more than I did, but it ended up being a middle-of-the-road 3-star read for me. Here’s the breakdown: The Good: The premise is wild. Earth becomes a giant, televised galactic dungeon? I’m in. Carl and Princess Donut (the cat 🐱) are a fun duo, and the pacing is super fast. The Not-So-Good: It gets repetitive: The “fight, loot, level up” cycle started feeling like déjà vu after a while. 🥱 The writing is a bit shallow. It’s fun for action, but don’t expect a ton of depth or character growth. The “humor.” 🚩 There were way too many “on the nose” jokes targeting women, fat people, often and doubling down on various stereotypes. In a world this creative, relying on lazy tropes like that felt pretty mid and unnecessary. Overall, it’s a decent popcorn read if you want something mindless, but it definitely wasn’t a favorite. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5

Reading for pleasure is a past time that has consistently lessened among nearly everyone, but especially among young men. In recent years, reading has become associated with women, while video games have become the primary source of entertainment for young men.* That’s why LitRPG is so interesting. This is a niche, fiction-based genre with a readership almost 90% male. We think this sort of shake up in the reading world deserves more of a spotlight, right? *These are also broad generalizations based on statistical trends. Obviously there are men who enjoy reading, and women who enjoy video games. #storystackpod #litrpg #dungeoncrawlercarl #bookstagram
