📱 Can we talk about tablets for a minute?👀
Technology isn't the enemy. Tablets can absolutely be useful tools for learning, creativity, and giving parents a chance to catch their breath.
The concern isn't if children use tablets, it's how much, what they're watching, and how they're using them.
As both a school psychologist and a BCBA, I've noticed a pattern over the years. After extended weekends or school breaks, I could quickly tell which of my clients had spent a significant amount of time on tablets. They frequently returned with shorter attention spans, lower frustration tolerance, more difficulty transitioning away from preferred activities, and greater challenges with emotional regulation.
That doesn't mean tablets are "bad." It does mean that how children use them matters.
Tomorrow I'll dive into the research behind blue light, short-form content, dopamine, attention, sleep, and why the type of screen time matters just as much as the amount.
The goal isn't to eliminate technology. It's to use it intentionally while protecting the skills our children need most: focus, creativity, self-regulation, patience, and the ability to play independently.
💬 Have you noticed a difference in your child after a weekend or vacation with lots of tablet time? I'd love to hear your experience.

One of the easiest ways to help a child’s brain grow… is through play.
Simple movement games that require focus and coordination help kids build new brain connections.
That’s neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to learn, adapt, and get stronger over time.
This one looks silly… but it’s harder than you think 😅
Try it with your child for 30 seconds and see what happens.

For a teenager, sleep isn't just about feeling rested—it's one of the most important factors for healthy brain development.
Getting 8.5–9.5 hours of sleep supports stronger brain connectivity, better focus, learning, memory, and emotional regulation.
On the other hand, consistently sleeping after midnight and getting too little sleep can increase impulsive behavior, screen addiction, junk food cravings, and mood-related problems.
For a growing brain, an early bedtime isn't a luxury t's an investment in long-term mental and physical health.
Save this post and share it with every parent of a teenager.

The biggest “brain hack” isn’t a gadget…
It’s a regulated parent, loving relationships, nourishing food, movement, quality sleep, and lots of play.
The nervous system learns through connection before it ever learns through information.
Save this for your future family or send it to a parent who would love this. 💚

This might look like they're just crawling around like little lizards, but...
there's actually a lot happening...
The Lizard Exercise is a cross-body movement that challenges the brain to coordinate both sides of the body while providing sensory and movement input. It can also be used to support primitive reflex integration.
Here's what we're working on:
✔️ Left-right brain coordination
✔️ Balance & body awareness
✔️ Core & postural control
✔️ Focus & attention
✔️ Primitive reflex integration
For kids with ADHD, exercises that combine movement, coordination, and sensory input can be a great way to give the nervous system something productive to work with.
And the best part?
It feels more like playing than therapy. 😂
