I get a lot of folks questioning my transness because of what I choose to wear, so let me remind you that no one has to dress a certain way or “transition” to be valid as a trans person. Being trans simply means to identify as a different gender than assigned at birth, and both binary and nonbinary trans people don’t have to dress a certain way to be valid to you! It’s honestly silly to me that we put so much weight on the social construct of gendering clothes - yes, they absolutely can be affirming, but imagine thinking putting on a piece of long fabric suddenly changes your perception of identity? Gender has always been a social construct of the mind by definition.
