THIS. QUARTET. 😮🔥
The Wayne Shorter Quartet wasn’t a band — it was a living organism.
Brian Blade going absolutely INSANE —
Time bending.
Energy exploding.
Listening on a spiritual level.
Danilo Pérez painting galaxies at the piano.
John Patitucci holding the universe together.
And Wayne… speaking in truths instead of notes.
Pure trust. Pure risk. Pure magic.
If you know — you KNOW.
If you don’t — study this band. 🎷🔥

Brian Blade being great at playing music on the drums!
I love this early clip of @brianbladeofficial in action. I saw and heard Brian live a few years before this video was made. It reminds me of those times. Thanks to @marcushorndrums for recently posting this clip.

An excerpt of a solo by the phenomenal Brian Blade. Cameo by bassist Christian McBride taking it all in. Many years ago while in line to purchase some gear at Drummer's World in Manhattan (a great pro shop that is now closed), the owner Barry came up to me and said "turn around and say hello to Brian Blade" and I did! We had a brief convo and he was very nice. I also saw Brian perform a show in a small setting with Daniel Lanois. One of the best drum performances I have ever seen live. He is such a great drummer!
Brian Blade is an acclaimed American jazz drummer, composer, and bandleader born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1970. He is known for his work with his own band, The Fellowship Band, and as a sideman for artists like Wayne Shorter, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan. Blade also sings and plays guitar, releasing his first singer-songwriter album, Mama Rosa, in 2009. #drummer #drums #drumming #drumlife #drumchops #drumsolo #drumfam #jazz #jazzdrums #jazzdrummer #brianblade #passion #joy #drumflow #excellence
