Born and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the cradle of Delta blues, Kingfish has gone from teenage prodigy to global headline act in just a few years. His 2021 album 662 took home a Grammy and confirmed what the blues world already knew: this is the next chapter of the tradition.
He’s been praised by Buddy Guy, compared to B.B. King, and featured on the covers of Guitar World and Rolling Stone. But what really sets him apart is the feel, heavy, soul-drenched tone, jaw-dropping control, and that deep Mississippi storytelling running through every solo.

No one does it better than Buddy Guy! The Chicago blues legend just wrapped up his 2026 January residency at Buddy Guy's Legends in the South Loop. The next day, the 89-year-old won his 9th Grammy Award for "Best Traditional Blues Album." 🤯
Buddy was also, of course, part of the movie "Sinners," which took home two Grammy Awards for its soundtrack.

Nearly 70 years into his career, bluesman Buddy Guy is having a career resurgence thanks to his role in “Sinners.”
The guitarist said he’s finally being recognized at the grocery store for his role as Sammie in the Ryan Coolger’s acclaimed horror film.
At 89, he was honored with the Living Legend and Iconic Collaboration in Film Award at Variety’s Hitmakers event in LA.

Less than a year before his death. Newly sober and at the absolute height of his powers.
This guitar in his hands is Number One, his battered 1962 Fender Stratocaster. He used an uncommonly heavy custom string gauge, .013 to .058, tuned a half step below standard. The strings were so heavy it was not uncommon for him to tear his fingernail off mid-performance from the speed of his movement across them.
Voodoo Child was Jimi Hendrix’s song and nobody pretended otherwise. But what Vaughan did with it was something separate. He had studied Hendrix the same way Hendrix had studied the blues players before him, not to copy it but to understand it deeply enough to make it his own. Without light shows, edgy haircuts, or rock star posturing, he introduced an entire generation to passion-fueled guitar music and the importance of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Buddy Guy, and Howlin’ Wolf.
These two Austin City Limits appearances in 1983 and 1989 remain the most requested episodes in the program’s history.
He died in a helicopter crash in East Troy, Wisconsin on August 27, 1990. He was 35 years old.
