We're rooting for women everyday. Happy International Women's Day! Scenes from last year's Black Women in Food Summit shows us what it looks like when we show up for each other. See you at the 2026 Summit! Www.blackwomeninfood.org/summit #blackwomeninfood #bwifsummit #dinediaspora
Last weekend felt intentional. ✊🏾✊🏿 I had the opportunity to attend the 4th Annual Black Food Crawl hosted by @bigbellymel and @the.6ix.eats , sponsored by @doordash_ca and this year it was bigger and more impactful than ever. The turnout alone said so much. We were split into two groups because of the growth. Creators across food, lifestyle, motherhood, beauty, and culture coming together with one shared purpose. To spotlight and celebrate Black-owned businesses. Our stops included: • @d.amotoronto | a dessert-forward concept that also offers savory dishes, blending creativity with comfort. • @coralresto.bar | rich West African flavours in a space that felt warm and homely. • @wazemarestaurant Ethiopian | where I experienced traditional Ethiopian coffee and and stepped further into delicious cuisine rooted in history and community. • @davshotspot | comfort food and vibrant energy that carried us through the evening. Yes, the food was beautiful. But what stayed with me most was the atmosphere. The collaboration. The genuine support. The celebration of Black excellence in real time. To brands: continue investing in Black creators. Give us opportunities to tell meaningful stories and amplify businesses with care and authenticity. 🖤 And to everyone reading this: support Black-owned restaurants in and outside of Black History Month. Culture and community deserve consistent support. 🤎 — #BlackFoodEnergy #BlackFoodCrawl #BHM2026 #SupportBlackBusinesses #TorontoCreators Black-owned restaurants Toronto, Black food crawl GTA, Toronto food scene, Black creators Canada, DoorDash partnership, supporting Black businesses year round, West African cuisine Toronto, Ethiopian restaurant experience, dessert spots Toronto, community driven creator events, Toronto lifestyle creators, cultural dining experiences GTA
Good food usually comes with good company & Great stories! We are so happy for the good food, company and stories shared with us this month at the Black Voices on a Page event. A very special thank you is in order for Abigail Kawadza, MN, RN and @classyaevents, who took care of all of us with hospitality and refreshments. A special thanks as well to our community partners who sponsored our refreshments: @negashcoffee204 for the excellent Ethiopian coffee, roasted right here in Niverville, #Manitoba. @nataliebell.ca - people and culture expert and community connector, who sponsored us with tasty Jamaican patties and refreshment from @jamminfoods.ca. Special thanks to @photographybygift who captured every moment of our event beautifully.
It was an absolute pleasure to cater and be on the panel for “Her Roots, Her Recipes,” organized by the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale @yaleafamhouse We had the opportunity to share Jollof rice and beef suya, bringing a taste of West African culture and tradition to the table. It was truly inspiring to connect with the community, celebrate the impact of Black women-owned businesses, and share my journey in entrepreneurship. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this beautiful event celebrating culture, food, and women in business. 🤍 Videography- @vastefilms Hairstyling- @lades_beauty_palace #KosysAfricanKitchen #BlackWomenInBusiness #WomenSupportingWomen #AfricanCuisine #CommunityThroughFood
First and foremost, Happy Black History Month 💛💛 I love my chefs. I love my community. And I love that over the years, I’ve been able to connect with so many amazing people. For this event I didn’t design a pitch deck. I didn’t send out a bunch of proposals. I simply relied on my network. I have no desire to work with anyone who doesn’t see the vision the first time. I’m not here to overly convince anyone to see the value in what we’re building. The right people will understand immediately. So I do want to take a moment to thank the sponsors who did see the vision: ✨ @chef_works - for filling our gift bags with aprons ✨ @prochefly - sponsoring our Knife Skills Challenge ✨ @topochicousa - making sure we stayed hydrated ✨ @roncolon111 - for the best 100 proof rum ✨ @linkup_n_drinkup - sponsoring happy hour ✨ @poppnpopout - for the beautiful balloons —— I also want to say thank you to my incredible team @nyla_blu @itsgeezyy__ @kayy_billii @dose_a_dej_ @the.jadedragon Thank you to these amazing chefs! @donyataylor_ @chefj.dillion @kizzyzkitchen And thank you to our panelists! @prettygirlseattoo @foreignfoodkollective —- I opened @thehoncho.club six months ago to eliminate some of the red tape that still exists in hospitality. I can’t believe in 2026, chefs are still facing the same barriers I faced 10 years ago. But that’s about to change. I promise. Thank you to everyone who came to my event. Official recap on the way. I love you guys. See you soon 💛💛 #thehonchoclub #chefhoncho #beyondtheplate #blackchefsnetwork #nycprivatechef
Across kitchens, generations, and cultures, women have long been the heartbeat of the table. We take simple ingredients and turn them into comfort, celebration, and connection. A pot on the stove. A pan in the oven. A plate made with intention. For many of us, feeding people is more than cooking. It is how we show up for the people we love. It is how we nurture our families, gather our communities, and pour care into the people around us. As the owner of @dynamicculinaryexperiences, I carry that tradition with pride. What started as love in the kitchen grew into a business rooted in hospitality, culture, and care. Today, on Women’s Day, I celebrate every woman who has ever loved her family through a meal. The grandmothers, mothers, aunties, sisters, daughters, and entrepreneurs who turn food into something powerful. Because when women cook with love, we do more than feed people. We create experiences. Happy Women’s Day. #InternationalWomensDay #DynamicCulinaryExperiences #WomenInBusiness #BlackWomenInBusiness #FoodIsLove
Repost from @lesdamesintl 💙 Celebrating Black History Month. Honoring leadership. Amplifying legacy. This month, we recognise and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Black women across food, beverage, hospitality, agriculture, media, and beyond. Black women have shaped culinary traditions, led innovation, preserved cultural knowledge, and built pathways for future generations — often while breaking barriers along the way. At Les Dames d’Escoffier International, we are proud to support, elevate, and stand alongside Black women whose work continues to transform our global food systems and communities. Their stories matter. Their leadership matters. Their impact is lasting. Today and always, we celebrate their excellence. #BlackHistoryMonth #LesDamesIntl #WomenInFood #HospitalityLeadership #FoodLeadership
As we celebrate National Women’s Month, I was truly honored to attend an all-Black women–led event in the city of Detroit, recognizing a remarkable colleague who has empowered and inspired countless women in the culinary arts. Being surrounded by so much leadership, excellence, and community was both humbling and motivating. Moments like these remind us of the importance of uplifting one another, celebrating impact, and continuing to open doors for the next generation of women. Thank you for the invite @ederique_ of @inthebusinessoffood #detroit oit
