CAN YOU CATCH MY MISTAKE?! I’ve been a diehard @hestragloves fan girl since I started backcountry skiing… but I always wore mittens because they were so toasty and warm. A few years ago I took an avalanche safety refresher course, and the instructor told us it was important to wear gloves. You just cant afford to lose the dexterity during a rescue… and having your hands out of your mittens for a prolonged time in cold conditions isn’t safe. But I didn’t want to lose my warmth from my trusty Hestra mittens! But the pretty pink Hestra Fall Line Gloves tempted me to give gloves another try. I’m so glad I did! They’re plenty warm! They’re comfy! And I’m LOVING the dexterity I now have during transitions. But the best part??? Now I know that I’m showing up as a better backcountry partner for my friends. We always stay informed and try to make the best decisions on a ski day, but if something were to happen, I’m ready to spring into action. But also: pink. I’m in love!

It’s actually insane that I can do this thing where I make sub par videos and companies like @hestragloves still wants to support my time outdoors. I’ve been rocking cheap cheap ski gloves for a decade and it has been awesome to rock these new gloves in the backcountry. Thanks for sending me these! Stoked to test them out further! @hestragloves

Storing your alpine ski boots properly is vital to maintaining them in between sessions, or seasons. Let’s jump right into it. ⛷️ 1. BUCKLE UP 🎿 Arguably the best feeling in the world is unbuckling your ski boots. Once you’ve freed your toes, take care to buckle the boots back up. This easy step helps maintain the form of your boots. 2. MOISTURE CONTROL 💧 Ensure boots dry completely between sessions and before storage. Sometimes air drying or some newspaper is enough. When very saturated, remove the liners and allow them to dry completely before reinserting them. If you ski frequently, a boot dryer may be worth the investment. 3. EXTRA TLC ❤️ At the end of the ski season, we recommend taking things a step further by cleaning them. This gives you a chance to review your boots for excessive wear and determine if anything needs replacing. One habit to add to your routine is to check the tension of the screws as it’s possible they have loosened over time. 4. STORAGE 👝 Ski boots should be stored in a dry, dark environment, at room temperature. Extreme cold or heat can affect the shape of the boots. Keep the boots in a zippered bag to deter critters from making their nest in your boots. 🐭 ➡️ We cover all of this on our blog, and we have a separate blog dedicated to storing all of your ski gear as well. Find it on riverandtrail.ca
Boot Bib- A total no-brainer for your shop🤯 #skishop #skiboots #ski #bootfitting
Take your socks off for this one… 🧦 Before you even think about trying on a ski boot with the liner in, pull that liner out completely. Slide your foot into the empty shell, push forward until your toes just touch the front, and check the gap behind your heel. You’re looking for about half an inch — roughly 1½ fingers width. That’s called a shell fit, and it tells you instantly whether a boot belongs on your foot. Too much space? The boot is too big. Too little? No liner is saving you from that pain. Get the shell fit right first. Everything else comes after. 👊 💬 Have you ever had a boot fitter do this for you? #skiing #skiboots #skibootfitting #bootfitting #skitips
