Renting outdoor winter gear from IcelandCover You can rent anything from parkas to hiking boots to crampons at their store in Reykjavík, but I highly recommend renting hiking boots and crampons if you don’t own them already! 2. Downloading the My Aurora Forecast App The My Aurora app gives accurate reportings of viewing probability and cloud coverage, and you can even get push notifications for when the lights are most visible wherever you are 3. Iceland at the tail end of winter? I’d argue “yes!” While many people seek Iceland’s green summer beauty, I chose to travel in March with @intrepidtravel on their Classic Northern Lights adventure. We did see the Northern lights (incredible!), but there were also so many other experiences that made this trip special. Iceland’s unique beauty is unmatched— with over 10,000 waterfalls, as well as snowcapped volcanoes, geysers, lagoons, and rocky shores, it’s hard not to feel both enchanted and more connected to nature here. As a part of the trip, we were able to hike a glacier and also kick back in Iceland’s oldest lagoon. Add in a few days of Reykjavik’s colorful, funky atmosphere and the unique perspectives of a local guide, and you have a truly memorable experience. #iceland #winter #adventures #wanderlust #travelforlife

ICELAND TRIP – DAY 8–9 | Reykjavik City Tour, Whale Watching & Northern Lights Hunt ✨🐋🌌 The final days of our Iceland adventure bring us back to the vibrant capital city while still chasing some unforgettable experiences. Day 8 and Day 9 are all about exploring Reykjavík, discovering iconic city landmarks, and ending the trip with incredible wildlife and northern lights adventures. 🚗🇮🇸 We begin by leaving our stay and driving back toward Reykjavík, enjoying one last scenic journey through Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes. Snow-covered mountains, open valleys, and dramatic coastal views accompany us as we make our way back to the capital city. ❄️🏔️ Once we arrive in Reykjavík, it’s time to explore the city! Our first stop is the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church, one of Iceland’s most iconic landmarks. The towering architecture inspired by Iceland’s basalt lava columns makes this church truly unique. From the top, you can also enjoy amazing panoramic views of the colourful rooftops of Reykjavík. ⛪🌈 Next, we walk through the lively Rainbow Street (Skólavörðustígur) — one of the most photographed streets in Iceland. With colourful painted roads, vibrant cafes, boutiques, and street art, this area perfectly captures the creative and welcoming spirit of Reykjavík. 🌈🏙️ The adventure continues on Day 9 with an exciting Whale Watching Tour from Reykjavík’s harbour. Sailing out into the North Atlantic, we search for magnificent marine life including whales, dolphins, and seabirds. Seeing these incredible animals in their natural habitat is truly a magical experience. 🐋🌊 To end our Iceland journey on a spectacular note, we head out for Aurora Hunting, chasing the breathtaking Northern Lights across Iceland’s dark winter skies.
