A day in the Peak District 🏞️✨
Started off driving through the insane cliffs of Winnats Pass 🚗 — hands down one of the coolest roads in the UK!
Then headed underground at Speedwell Cavern, hard hats on for a boat ride through tunnels and down to the Bottomless Pit ⛏️
Afterwards, we explored Castleton village — streams, stone cottages, and total countryside vibes 🏘️
Walked up through Cavedale, which honestly felt like a scene straight out of Game of Thrones ⚔️
And wrapped up the day with the 3 PM tour at Peak Cavern (The Devil’s Arse) — the perfect end to an adventure-filled day 🌄

I had a lovely day trip to Castleton yesterday with my friend @emhannar (apart from the train delays, but that’s another story🥴)
I’d wanted to go to Castleton for so long but never managed to go, so I was so happy when Emily volunteered to be my tour guide. This place definitely didn’t disappoint ❤️
My love language has always been ‘a nice long walk followed by a cosy English pub with a story to tell’ and Castleton certainly has plenty.
Such a wholesome place I’ll definitely be returning to❤️

The weather still cant make its mind up so I was so glad to have my @revolutionrace shorts and vest top for the warmer temperature in the afternoon but the fleece for the early morning chill!
I wore the Stride Active Tank Top and Norwand shorts. And my extra layer was the Sherpa hoodie.
The tank top I wear everywhere! It’s been my go to top all summer for hikes and the gym as it’s comfy, fitted and breathable.
The shorts are really comfortable, flexible but also durable! Maggie managed to get slobber all over me and they cleaned up and dried off super quickly.
The fleece is my new favourite, and is going to be worn a lot this autumn season!

📈 Easy - this isn’t very hilly and is a really nice easy walk through the countryside
🐶 Dog friendly but dogs need to be on a lead around livestock and there are lots of narrow gaps through fields
⏱️ This route takes approx 3hrs

BEST FOR: Spectacular Scenery
A dramatic limestone gorge just west of Castleton, Winnats Pass is a winding road flanked by towering ridges. While you can drive it, the route is narrow—better enjoyed on foot for the full, breathtaking impact.
Park at Speedwell Cavern (spaces are limited) or walk from the village. The views from the top are unmissable. 🥾✨

🚘 Closest parking: Bamford Edge Layby Parking (New Road)S33 0AD. It’s just a short walk up to the viewpoint.
Alternative: Heatherdene Car Park near Ladybower Reservoir (slightly longer walk but well marked).S33 0BY
Both options are straightforward, and the route to the top is clear and beginner-friendly.

Whenever I visit Winnats Pass I'm always drawn to sitting on the edge and watching the world go by.
To the left you have the beautiful Mam Tor and then down the valley you have the ideallic village that is Castleton.
A perfect place to sit and relax, thats if you like heights 😉
