1. Consistency over intensity
I never believed in studying 10 hours a day. I believed in showing up again. Missing one day was fine. Missing two wasn’t. Even 15 minutes was enough. The goal wasn’t productivity, it was continuity. Most people don’t fail because they aren’t capable. They fail because they disappear for too long.
2. Treating preparation like a job, not a feeling
Once consistency exists, structure keeps it alive.
I stopped asking if I felt motivated. There were fixed study slots, just like work. No negotiation. This removed friction. Prep stopped feeling heavy and started feeling normal.
Motivation is unreliable. Systems aren’t.
3. Writing my goals down made them real
Structure without direction leaks energy.
I wrote specific goals with timelines and read them daily. Not for motivation, but alignment. When goals are visible every day, decisions get simpler.
4. Trusting slow, invisible progress
This habit keeps people from quitting.
There were long stretches with no visible improvement. No jumps. No breakthroughs. I stayed anyway.
5. Reviewing mistakes more seriously than success
Mocks weren’t about ego. Every wrong answer was a signal. I focused on the thinking error, not just the solution.
6. Reducing doom scrolling gave me mental space
CAT prep is psychological as much as it is intellectual.
I didn’t quit social media. I stopped letting it enter study time.
7. Sleeping at least 6–7 hours
Sleep quietly upgraded everything.
Focus improved. Accuracy increased. Reading became faster. Emotional control got better. Studying tired feels productive, but it isn’t. Quality beats hours.
8. Waking up early changed how the day felt
This started as a constraint and became an advantage.
Studying before office meant no distractions and peak mental energy.
9. Reading the newspaper trained my attention
This habit compounded slowly but deeply.
It improved vocabulary, comprehension, and general awareness. More importantly, it rebuilt long-form focus.
Taking a gap year can feel nerve-wracking, especially when facing interview questions about it.
Let’s say you took a gap year for CAT prep, How do you justify it? MBA colleges don’t want you to focus only on preparation for their college in-fact they expect you to multitask.
But here’s the secret: a well-spent gap year can actually be a powerful asset for your MBA application.
The trick? Framing your experiences to showcase skills and growth.
📈” You wanted to gain real-world experience.”
Did you launch a business or volunteer with an NGO? Highlight the challenges you faced and the skills you developed, like leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability.
🏡 “You needed to focus on family and personal reasons.”
Taking care of loved ones shows maturity and responsibility. Talk about the organizational skills and compassion you gained during this time.
📚 “You invested in upskilling yourself.”
Enrolling in bootcamps or online courses demonstrates your commitment to continuous learning. This is a major plus for business schools!
🔍” You pursued a research opportunity.”
Did you assist a professor with their project? Showcase your intellectual curiosity and analytical skills.
👩🏻🎨” You explored your creative passions.”
Have a blog? Youtube channel? Pursued photography or writing? Explain how these passion projects helped you develop creativity and communication skills.
🗺”You broadened your horizons through travel.”
Talk about how cultural immersion expanded your perspective and fostered adaptability.
📌Remember, the key is to connect your experiences to the skills MBA programs value most. Be specific about the challenges you faced, the skills you honed, and how these experiences make you a stronger candidate.

Most CAT advice is NOT meant for you.
If you’re an average student
If your mocks are low
If consistency is hard
If self-doubt hits daily
Then topper gyaan won’t work.
Because guidance works only when the mentor
has once stood where YOU are standing.
CAT doesn’t need brilliance.
It needs clarity, psychology, and execution.
And the market is full of generic advice.
This reel ends that trend.
