Today at 4pm, our chargeback issue was taken to Federal Parliament in Canberra. What started as thousands of dollars lost in unfair chargebacks has now turned into a national conversation. Chargebacks. Chargebacks. Chargebacks. Everybody in the life insurance industry worries about them. New agents fear them. Old agents complain about them. And people who failed in this business love to BLAME them. But what I have learned very early in my career. The best way to beat chargebacks… is to prevent them. You do that by being proactive, not reactive. You don’t oversell people. You don’t write business that shouldn’t be written. And you don’t treat a policy like a quick commission. You treat it like what it actually is a financial promise to a family. Now let’s be real. Are you still going to have chargebacks? Of course you are. Insurance has been sold for over 200 years, and guess what? Chargebacks have existed for 200 years too. But here’s the difference between amateurs and professionals: Amateurs fear chargebacks. Professionals plan for them. They build systems. They follow up with clients. They write good business. And they financially plan for the small percentage that falls off. That’s how people build six-figure and seven-figure careers in this industry. So when people ask me about chargebacks, I tell them this: We’re going to teach you how to do this business the right way. Yes, chargebacks will happen. But no they won’t control your career. People keep asking me what a day is like as a life insurance broker… honestly its a little like this. I build my life around the gym. Some people will flex with the “sales” they make and really they are sitting in chargebacks and most are buying leads that lead them nowhere Me? Its the peace for me. Im not making 200-500 dials a day. More like 25-50 and training my guys. Not for everyone, and thats okay.
